The difference with this one however that although there was no great damage to property, no fires started, and no police personal injured, there were 21 people arrested.

Not according to the report I read, but if that's updated information then good. Should have been more.

Most Jock fans, just go for the trouble!

Can't see any reports of violence between Glasgow Rangers and Sheffield Wednesday, trt ... did the Rangers fans not get the memo?
It's the Mirror Naomi so I'm not claiming it's wholly accurate, hence my use of the word 'apparently'.

More important is what charges were brought rather than arrests. I can't find any info on this (but I haven't tried very hard).

From what I have learned over the years, there is often trouble between Celtic and Rangers, easily spilling over into sectarian violence.

But I am still puzzled about the Tommy Robinson connection to all this. It would seem to me that the DM is deliberately conflating Robinson and the football riots.

Haven't you put up a BBC link doing the same thing?
It's odd but I have seen quite a few Mail articles leaning towards the left, or at least PC Liberalism. Perhaps they are fed up with their readership and want rid of them for circulation figures like the Grundian?

As for why a bunch of football hooligans get arrested but rioters (of and colour) dont is a mystery to me. Most likely Plod are afraid of being labeleed as something by the, usually, left wing rioters?
It's easier to deal with a load of blokes scrapping than it is to deal with a load of people hurling missiles.
The football thugs are generally intent on knocking 7-bells out of opposing fans and thus the Police can effect arrests with a reasonable amount of safety to themselves.

The rioters were intent on damaging as many Police-officers as possible. In that situation containment and intelligence are the main objectives. There will be numerous arrests 'after the fact' even if they don't make the front pages of the newspapers.
Oh, I see. So if it is easier then uphold the law but if the going gets bad then let them do what they like.

Sounds like a recie for left wing anarchy to me, mind you some on here would like that along with the likes of McDonnel et al.
LoL.
A nice proportionate response......as expected.

The Police have learned a great deal from part unsuccessful experiences of 'wading in' during riots. They have determined that trying to contain a situation is preferable than trying to snatch indivduals out of the crowd which leaves officers vulnerable (Keith Blakelock, anyone?) and compromises the thin blue line on the street.

Information-gathering techniques have vastly improved which means the main protagonists can be taken out of their beds at a time when the heat has gone out of the situation.....and when they are least expecting it.

How long were you in the Police force Ummmm?
I'm sure they'll be plenty of arrests once the rioters have been identified.
Common sense, trt.

Plenty of hands on snatching here, didn't see the same during the other more violent riot.

Yes....
That's what I said. Thankyou for providing the pictures as confirmation.
AOG...those police officers do not have riot shields to hold while trying to avoid things being thrown at them and fireworks being set off.
The Police like any organisation meant to keep the peace will weigh up each situation as it unfolds and deal with it in the best way they can.

They'll never please all of us that's for certain.

ummmm

/// I'm sure they'll be plenty of arrests once the rioters have been identified ///

They had already been identified by the police who watched the offending individuals carry out their acts of violence.

The police don't stand by watching a criminal carry out a crime, then later go round making enquiries if anyone can describe the perpetrator, so as to help them make an arrest.
In situations like riots they do!

Like Duggan riots offenders were arrested after the event.

Er? that is not what you said, what you did say was:

"They have determined that trying to contain a situation is preferable than trying to snatch indivduals out of the crowd which leaves officers vulnerable"

It would seem from the photos that I have provided, that here we see two individuals being snatched out of the crowd.

But then they are white, perhaps what you mean is that where blacks are involved a different approach as to be taken?
ta dar....
