// Her solicitor, Attiq Malik, has written to the school saying its actions were a ‘straightforward’ test case of discrimination on the grounds of religion. ///

/// Mr Malik, of Liberty Law Solicitors, added: ‘The Government constantly talks about British values. To me, those values include diversity and multiculturalism.’ ///

From the Guardian article // I had had no problem from security at the school gate when I entered the school and nobody there had mentioned a policy. I always lift my veil and show my photo ID when required to do so for security purposes //

Which does imply that the school has security at the gate.

And perhaps posted on the school gates eh?

TO ALL PERSONS ENTERING THIS SCHOOL, PLEASE BE MADE AWARE............................

Mind you, they may need much larger gates these days, taking into consideration, it would need to be written in so many languages.
Nah, that would be silly.
This person thinks her "right" to wear a veil is more important then the safety of the children and staff. I wonder how she would feel if the next person wearing a veil, and it doesn't have to be woman, enters the school and murders a few youngsters.
veil sounds like hidden, and from what...men undressing you with their eyeballs..plz
She said, 'I was very shaken and in a state of shock about what had happened, and when I got home, I broke down'

Tut, Tut, poor woman.

I am sure there are plenty of private Muslims schools in other Country's she could go to?
She probably means the building, im just looking at the school on street view and the gates are wide open with builders in the grounds and a van half in/out of the driveway.

Dave.
No doubt all visitors are given a badge to wear or a pass so why is that not sufficient in the event of a challenge?
VULCAN, what happens when the next workman turns up at the school, takes out a few guns or a rifle from his toolbox or the back of his van and starts shooting the staff or pupils?
islam is not a religion but an ideology 1400 year old fascism
You didn't read my post then Talbot!!
Of course I read it.
I don't think that this can be religious discrimination. The full veil is not mandatory for Muslim women.

And anyway, for practical reasons, anyone entering a school needs to be readily identifiable.

What if a stranger turned up with a full veil and took one of the kids?

So I think the school is right here.
Same old same old say a word to a Muslim ..next thing law suits ..compensation wanted ..good old great Britain we stand for all of it!
But of course, Muslims don't discriminate, do they?

Dave - when my lids were in primary school the gate was manned by teachers. If any child arrived late they were met with a locked gate and had to speak through a video phone. Very unlikely someone concealing their identity would be buzzed in.
Huderon,
// I had had no problem from security at the school gate when I entered the school and nobody there had mentioned a policy. I always lift my veil and show my photo ID when required to do so for security purposes //

That does not imply the school has security at the gates. She is just saying in other circumstances such as at the airport, that she will unmask and show ID. On this instance she was not challenged at the gates probably because there is not a security guard there ever.

Safety in schools should not ever be compromised to appease religious zealots. There is clearly a very good reason for not allowing face covering by adults in a building full of children. She wants her freedom to practice her religion to trump other parents' right to have their child schooled in a safe environment.

As she clearly does not want to obey the rules that this school enforces, then the best option might be to take away her childs place at this school, and let her find another one. I am sure there will be plently of more law abiding parents who would be more grateful of their child place at this highly desirable establishment.

If the problem was a dodgy haircut the child and parent would have already been shown out the school gates by now.
THECORBYLOON, do you not think the other workmen/teachers would notice a stranger in their midst? We cannot safeguard every situation but seeing the persons face might be a good start.
