About time.

I found it astonishing that the NHS wasted money on this entirely unproven quackery.

At very best these sugar pills and water may act on the gullible as a placebo, but was that enough of a reason to warrant the £200m spent?

It turns out that NHS spending on Homeopathy is a drop in the ocean of the total budget... so presumably it's made a huge difference to people's health overall.
Quite true Jim, but i feel that we are in the situation with finance in the NHS that " every little helps" becomes the bye word.
Look after the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves.

The NHS is such a Goliath that the many little things add up to some real big money. This is a start but far from the end. The NHS should concentrate on basic health only, no trans gender, no free boob jobs etc etc.
in other words, only problems you might suffer from, ymb?

Rescue Remedy's always seemed to work quite well to me.
That’s a difficult one as the NHS has a responsibility for metal health as well....
Sqad, did you get jim's joke?
No jno, stop assuming in your usual pious fashion. The NHS is NOT free and the tax payer is not a bottomless pit.

I agree mental Health is also an issue, but we need to remove DLA being tied to it as a fair few try to get their kids diagnosed with something to get it. We need to return to the basics of mental health too and stop compartmentalising people because they are slightly from the norm or a kid misbehaves more than another.
I see the King of the sweeping statement has added psychology and psychiatry to his skills.....
I have no view on whether or not they work, but given that they can be purchased OTC and don’t even need to be sold from a pharmacy AND there is limited objective evidence that they work, I am amazed that they (homeopathic remedies) have escaped the cut for so long.
jno...LOL....LOL....thanks for pointing that out......."drop in the ocean".....LOL.
Jim, sorry i missed that....very good.
Small sweeties and bottles of water can be had in any shop for a lot less than the price of a prescription.
The change of scenery might be beneficial too.
If it was intentional then it's very good.
I was meaning JIM's comment
Quick and chirpy this morning, Jim.......that was good!.......x
The NHS could save some money from not being tied to suppliers. My son bought me some cleaning wipes on Amazon for £7, the exact thing bought by hospital is over £20. Small steps, small steps!
oh I know roopower. Years ago we were told we had to go through purchasing for anything we wanted. I ordered a specific kettle for patient use...at the time they were a tenner in Argos. Purchasing “procured” for me the identical kettle, same brand, and wanted me to pay 50 quid. I told them where to stick it and bought the Argos one from petty cash.
first I've heard of this, glad they are stopping it, complete mumbo jumbo. What next, eye of newt and leg of toad? PMSL!
// so presumably it's made a huge difference to people's health overall.//

nope - you cant show it works
whether or not the patient likes it ( "patient want not patient need" in NHS speak )

I was 'with' Alec Forbes in Plymouth just before he went to the Bristol Cancer centre
and he was doing Bach remedies and 'Healing'

unimpressive
Homeopathy is like several other things like faith, that a lot of people find helps them. I wouldn't call any of it mumbo jumbo or rubbish, each to his own. I'm not saying it should be paid for on the NHS. Are we including acupuncture?
The nnhs pay for a lot of very unexpected things. For example in certain circumstances they pay for funerals
