Even Saint Tony and Bottler admit they were wrong. If you have a diesel car now is the time to flog it.

Eddie....have I got this right ?

These DPFs clean the car of most particulates, by burning them off ? Does that then make diesels, not so horrid as we have been led to believe ?
Thanks for the link Dave, my car is one of those mentioned that have 'Active regeneration' , you can hear the fan running when the Clean filter cycle starts.
Mikey , Yes there are a few on here who as so certain that all diesels are 'filthy oil burners' that they refuse to believe the recent advances that have dramatically reduced the pollution levels to less than a modern petrol engine.
With the far better MPG of an ecodiesel ( I really do get over 70 mpg on a run) the overall picture favours the Euro6 diesel over a petrol engine.
Eddie.....This is my 3rd diesel Fiesta and I too, have near miraculous MPG as well....easily the high 50's.
Mikey Yes, when the 'clean cycle' starts (fully automatically) the engine uses a small amount of extra fuel which is injected directly into the filter where it burns and heats the filter to the point where the particulate burns off as Carbon Dioxide. NOX is eliminated by the car using 'Adblue' with the fuel, you have a separate 'Adblue' tank which needs to be refilled around once a year.
Eddie....I never knew that !
