Der Rhine 'fascists' are usually sensible when it comes to their multi-layered political structure......
one of the arguments of Rutte on tee-vee was:

he has to run a country for chrissakes and he hasnt even been a minister !

interesting gloss/variant for Nicola Sturgeon who cannot resist bucking her day job for more interesting activities

but lying / misleading exit pollsters is now an international activity

first done with Thatcher where people who had voted for Mrs T didnt want to say so in public
shame my old mate is not running, mikey, you would like him....google wouter bos.

DTC....you have a very wide circle of friends !
Mikey mikey me old china, remember what happened the last 3 times you relied on the polls? Let's see 2015 hung parliament certain, doh! Jun 2016, brexit miles behind, doh! November Surely Hilary must win! Doh! How many beatings does it take? The polls are an irrelevance these days.

TTT....we shall see, but I can't see how Wilders the Racist will be able to form a Government tomorrow morning !
that's what you said about all the other "certainties" mikey.!
Question Author
Certainty is your word, not mine TTT....we shall see in the morning, I'm sure.
Well, whatever happens it will be what the electorate voted for, I will respect that.
Question Author
As will I TTT...we are both democrats after all !
It was reckoned actually that the Trump factor may have done for Wilders. Tho the latter did his best in the ridiculous hair do stakes :-)
Question Author
Its official TTT....the racists have lost.
I'm unsure what the fuss is about. The leading party lost seats, presumably because the population isn't happy about what they're doing, but still want to keep them in; the one everyone thought was going to do well has gained seats even though their hope to be the major party didn't emerge; and with some of their more intolerant aims to do well at all speaks volumes about present public opinion. Now the parties now need to sort out one of those awkward coalitions.
The Dutch are far too sensible than to do something silly.
Question Author
Gomit....I never had any doubts that the Racists weren't going to lose. As you say, the Dutch are far too sensible to let an ogre like Wilders into power.
If you look at the number of seats gained in recent elections by the Freedom Party, it's actually fluctuated quite a lot. So this is not a party "on the rise" out of nowhere, but one that comes and goes: a mercifully small ripple in the sea of Dutch politics. In the end they polled half of what most polls had predicted, even the unfavourable one. Their wave rose, but not as much as feared. What's happened still shows a trend to favour non-mainstream parties, but thankfully not the racist outfit of Mr Wilders.
Why do you have to keep calling him a racist Mickey?

Just because someone feels their country is under threat and want to look after the indigenous population (after all liberals wont) is not a racist. Over use of a word can mean that it no longer has impact when it is really needed.

Apparently it could be months before a Government is formed, perhaps we should be glad of our FPTP system even with its faults?
I thought he was a member of the fascist elite?
Question Author
YMB....I use that term because that is what he is, and the Dutch people seem to have agreed. I call a spade a spade.
