anneasquith - I entirely agree.
President Trump was partially gifted his office by the fact that he was (believe it or not!) perceived as better than the alternatives, the actual best of a bad bunch.
Add to that his 'refreshing' approach to politics - if he doesn't feel like running things past Congress, or following protocols, he just doesn't bother - and his off-the-planet boasts about what he would do, he had little trouble in securing the mandate, and the office.
Of course, now he has to deliver, which is obviously proving a little more tricky given that his promises were wildly imaginative, and he is unwilling to follow the processes needed to do more or less anything the right way.
