why speechless, outraged, confounded and down right angry, why is anyone surprised........
that doesn;t read right, sorry.
one should be outraged, confounded and down right angry
its grim reading, all those poor children, the church, care homes have a lot to answer for.

Speechless because right now I can't find the appropriate words - and when I can they'll probably be unprintable.
i understand totally, it is outrageous.
For all the investigation , this was always going to be the result - incredibly sad and yes I agree, words aren't sufficient.
I read about it on Saturday. 800 little bodies and only two burial records.
It's really shocking but I suspect it was probably a widespread occurrence.
Thank goodness these poor mites had the caring nuns to look after them......who knows what would have happened to them otherwise. :o(
Than the Lord for religious people.
No words ...
I mean why do people get hot under the collar about a mass grave in a foreign country ( in this case Co Galway ?) over which they have absolutely no control ?

Can it really be Brexit as the be-all and end-all of all hot collar fanatics and the cause of all things evil
this is oldish news - readers -
the site has been known for a few years
800 death certs and 2 burials .....

there are site photographs which readers will recognise as they have done the rounds as well

// The Irish government in 2014 formed the commission following the work of a local Tuam historian, Catherine Corless, who found death certificates for nearly 800 children who were residents at the facility but burial records for only two.//

PeterPedant, //this is oldish news - readers -//

...reported only a few days ago by The Guardian. Oh well, that's alright then.
It's extremely sad. I understand why you'd be speechless.

The horrific treatment and the shame put on unmarried mothers is beyond shocking....and by people of the cloth. It's as if every cruel and evil person joined the church.

For such a small country it's shocking the sins against the people.

I suppose all the perpetrators are now dead and cannot be brought to justice - more's the pity !
chances are you are right.
I read that the other day - just appalling.
My family have direct experience of just how cold and inhuman Catholic clergy can be - it's born out of an undeserved sense of entitlement that they possess - it makes egotistical religious dangerous people into total unopposed monsters - as has happened here.
