Dazzle.....like you, I am not in possession of her medical details, but a pituitary tumour IS a brain tumour.
You are not suggesting that she had two tumours are you, a pituitary tumour which has been cured AND another brain tumour?
ummmm - //To me you suffer with a cold and you battle things like cancer. //

To me you have a cold, and you have cancer - the severity of the condition does not dictate your response to it, because your uninolved response is the same, you live or you die - 'battling' is not involved.

Someone far too young to die has died

RIP Tara.

But hey, let's not concern ourselves with that, when we can split hairs over the terminology used, it's far more fun!
Andy -where have you picked up that info? Her death is being treated as a 'mystery' at the moment. The article in the Op clearly states

"Ms Palmer-Tomkinson said she had been told the non-malignant growth in her pituitary gland had cleared after treatment."
naomi...OK.
There's the things. Giving up. My dad battled cancer and he doing well for his diagnosis. Then he fell over and completely gave up.
sqad "You are not suggesting that she had two tumours are you, a pituitary tumour which has been cured AND another brain tumour?"

I'm not suggesting anything. I actually read the article from beginning to end which stated that although she had had a brain tumour scare (yes I am quite aware a pituitary tumour IS a brain tumour) it was malignant and she had fully recovered after treatment.
The Telegraph seemed to suggest she was in the process of 'battling' this illness and inferred this was the cause of her death.
Dazzle..LOL..OK we are both running around in circles, neither of us knowing the medical facts.
A guess perhaps......her death has nothing to do with brain or auto immune anything, more likely due to her lifestyle.....just a guess you understand.
Having met her on several occasions I can say that despite all her problems she had a heart of gold. RIP Tara x
Aww when did you meet her?
sqad I totally agree x
Smow at a couple of houseparties in Norfolk, she was a bit 'mad' but in a nice way very pleasant and eager to please. Oh and knew how to party.
So sad for you to hear this news,Islay x
The arguing about little things on here saddens me.
Does it mikey? Why?
This is normal human behaviour isn't it?
I don't know the deceased, never met her and my emotional attachments to her are nil, but i admit if i was one of the family or friends then i might well take your view.
There's certainly a battle going on over the semantics......
Well I found this very sad when I heard it on the news. She was a real character. RIP
I'm glad I've read that ED had changed the OP. Before I read that I was battling to see the difference between maggie's and Zacs' spelling and just couldn't see it.
I felt sad when I read this story. As far as I am aware, she had quit the cocaine, and there's nothing to suggest (at this point) that her former lifestyle had anything to do with her early death.

Also, I have to agree with Andy. The whole 'battling cancer' thing kinda niggles me a bit, because it sounds like a phrase that's come into currency to assign some kind of heroism to people who develop an illness.

If I am diagnosed with cancer, it would be the drugs that battle it, not me. If I'm knocked over by a bus and my leg is broken, I won't be battling the break...the doctors who treat it will. Technically, I'm a bystander.

However, I understand that there is something in the power of positive thinking - I'm just not sure how effective it is.

Lord - I love to ramble on...
andy's battle against people linking the words 'battle and cancer' has been going on for some years now. You would have thought an 'agree to disagree' deal would have been struck by now.
Battle - Synonyms ... struggle, fight,

RIP Tara Palmer-Tomkinson
This is sad news, RIP Tara.
