Not sure where to put this.
Trump has mooted this idea about financing this ruddy wall. He wants Mexico to pay....they say they won't.
So his next thoughts are that he may impose a 20% import duty on stuff coming from Mexico, like TVs for instance.
But if is to be successful, then its the American people that will be paying that extra 20%, not Mexico itself ! If people refuse to buy any more Mexican goods, then no moneys will be raised to pay for the wall.
Either way. Mexico won't be paying !

He has said the wall will be built paid by American Dollars and then Mexico will reimburse America. If he now introduces the import duty, America will actually pay twice.

I suspect the idea is that suppliers of Mexican goods will drop their price by around 20% in order to retain market share. One might argue whether that would happen but if it does then Americans won't be paying for the wall as the price the consumer would pay would remain the same and yet 20% wall tax would be taken.

I have to admit to being a great UK fan of the Donald,and can only say illegal immigrants from Mexico taking their jobs is a matter of great concern to many Americans. I dont suppose Donald would have come up with such an extreme idea if that wasnt the case.We in England have had our own moat in the English Channel to keep us safe from danger and unwanted types. The President of Mexico may have stamped his foot but will have to accept with some sort of an arangement where his country pays for the wall.
