As far as the facts she has reported - no.

As far as the opinions she confers on those facts - they are just that - her opinions, and as such, cannot be subjected to a truth / untruth analysis.
Oh, sorry, I forgot, she is categorically not 'my' Katie!!
"How many MORE atrocities before our leaders stop lying to us and admit that, thanks to their immigration policies, being mowed down while doing your Christmas shopping is simply the new normal?
"

Hmmm. It's just mouthy populist opinion. When you see things like this it makes you a bit more circumspect about criticising aspects of the press in authoritarian countries. It isn't, it would seem, just an occasional phenomenom, but a steady stream of this tripe.
"Tripe" he says! There isn't one thing stated which is incorrect, so who talks tripe? my only criticism is that it points to the facts, but suggests no counter- offensive plan of action, signing books of condolences and hand wringing just isn't enough anymore.
Khandro - if Ms. Hopkins wanted to deliver facts, she would write for a broadsheet where facts are expected and understood.

But she prefers to peddle her inflammatory nonsense on the Mail website where she can preach to the converted.

I do not dispute the facts as she has stated them - but in terms of her opinions, which pad out the piece to three times the length it would be without them - they are just that - her opinions, and they carry no weight with me, or it seems with ichkeria.

That's the difference and also the problem with facts and opinions, people cannot gainsay or ignore the first, but they are perfectly at liberty to scoff at the second, which is the response it deserves.
Well said Katie and you ARE 'my' Katie !!
Khandro - //Is this "tripe"? //

Well of course not, but it is from a respected and publically funded news source, so you would not expect it to be tripe.

The same cannot be said for one individual who is highly paid to voice trenchant provocative opinions.

The comparison between the two is .... oh, hang on, there isn't one.

Yes he is free to travel where he chooses, except the UK, unless he decides to smuggle himself in, in the back of a lorry.
Whose Katie?
"Khandro - if Ms. Hopkins wanted to deliver facts, she would write for a broadsheet where facts are expected and understood. " - you mean like the independent or Guardian Andy where they reported Jezza storming out of a bash this week and all the pro Labour mob said that was porkies.....right oh!

Which one would you suggest?

/// But she prefers to peddle her inflammatory nonsense on the Mail website where she can preach to the converted. ///

No keep those with open minds informed of matters that some would rather see censored.

/// I do not dispute the facts as she has stated them - but in terms of her opinions, which pad out the piece to three times the length it would be without them - they are just that - her opinions, and they carry no weight with me, or it seems with ichkeria. ///

Well that is two of you at least, and your opinions don't seem to carry any weight at all.

One could also state the same words against your posts only your opinions generally beat Katie's miserable "three times the length it would be without them".

/// That's the difference and also the problem with facts and opinions, people cannot gainsay or ignore the first, but they are perfectly at liberty to scoff at the second, which is the response it deserves. ///

In your slanted opinion.
It isn't "lies" it is opinion.
My opinion of her views are that they are tripe.
It is plainly too much to hope that papers like the Mail could inform their readers with debate between opposing views. Instead, the only "debate" I'd imagine are the comments that appear at the bottom of every article.
// being mowed down while doing your Christmas shopping is simply the new normal //

That is a pretty stupid thing to say. It is like saying after a plane crash that hitting a mountain during a flight "is the new normal".

Of course it isn't, it is very rare. But exploiting peoples' fears is the normal for shock journos.
Mr Git, if your opinions were any more slanted, you'd slide off them and bounce down the road on your rubber-bum-bum! (little xmas ditty for you there)
being mowed down while shopping is normal? Really? Has it actually happened anywhere near any of those people so enthusiastically agreeing with her?

In fact it happened near me just the other day, but it appears to have been only a good old-fashioned British drunk behind the wheel, so no problem.
No, hasn't happened anywhere near me and I still 'enthusiastically' agree with her...
Is anyone listening, does it affect the politicians? not as a rule & yet they let them in.
