I was prepared to give May a chance but every day she seems to be showing her true colours now this.

Everyone knows this unelected house does not reflect the feelings of the country - 100 liberal MPS - so she knows they will block Brexit.

You are riding a very thin line May.

yeh but they can always invoke the parliament act....
The Lord's can't block 'Brexit' or any other commons bill but they can ensure it is held up for 2 years !
As said the government can invoke the Parliament act , but it takes time.
No. If I’m reading this right she’s wise to leave things as they are for the time being at least. If she’d done otherwise right now, she’d have been accused of fiddling the launch of Brexit by scuppering the opposition.
Are folk suggesting hundreds of new Tory/Brexit Lords come the next honours round ?
It seems to me that she is actually preparing for post Bretix where both houses have input and a say.

If the Lords decide to not vote in favour of exit they will be in deep dodoo.

However I think the unelected lords should have no power of veto over anything. They should, just be advisory.

No they wont they are an unelected law unto themselves and should be abolished, replaced with an elected body.

Excpet for the riots I suppose, but then again I dont suppose any of them live in any areas real people live.
Ever the optimist ymb: let's hope you are right :-)
I hope she is just clearing the decks to push this through. Anyway she still has the Parliament act and Ironically it would be good to see it correctly used this time. The last 2 times have been rather unnecessary.
May Day, May Day , May Day, SOS, even YMB is talking sense now, has he had a Brain Transplant ???.OMG.
Gulliver - how did the afternoon sewing class go?

You'll claim that you were 'stitched up' no doubt..
Doesn't giving a major incentive to replace them count as deep dodoo ?
What a Desperate Prime Minister , leading a Desperate Government must be the Shower since Thatcher,
how long do you think it will be before labour have another government gulliver?
Well TGT you cannot really call the present lot a real Government, just feel like they are a caretaker Government , waiting for A miracle to happen , God only knows who will come to their rescue?.
Gulliver, //waiting for A miracle to happen//

Nice to see you acknowledge that's what it will take.
Nick Clegg introduced a bill aimed at having the lords elected. Tories scuppered it.
Brexit will happen, and then better things are coming. We have all seen how the likes of years of an incompetent Labour party has destroyed nearly everything and now a new era is born.
Better things to come O/L like a 100 billion black hole in the economy says the Chancellor,
did he just write:

//Everyone knows this unelected house does not reflect the feelings of the country - 100 liberal MPS -//

MPs unelected ? really ?

Drivel sorry Drizzle starts early on AB - bit windy up t north

I think it is delay for one year only eddie
( majors parliament act )
Nothing to do with Major. He merely invoked the Parliament Act to pass the War Crimes Bill (1991).
