This is beginning to seem like an Agatha Christie novel...."and there there were none"

A reasonable news item, wth childish replies, :-(

What is going on? Why did David Cameron call a referendum when there were still all these obstacles to overcome?
It's ok for him now. He can just go on holiday to Cornwall forever if he likes, and leave the stuff for others to clear up.
Cloverjo, what does that have to do with this thread?

...and Mikey, since you constantly tell us that UKIP is a non-entity, why does his withdrawal from the leadership contest bother you?
Sorry, my train of thought led me to my reply. I should have reined it in.
I said before James was elected that Nuttall was the man to take them forward.

Candidates dropping out is nothing unusual in any leadership election.
The referendum was called so that the people could state their democratically arrived at collective opinion.

The obstacles are those folk choose to throw up in the hope of stopping the people's will. When one does anything one encounters issues that one overcomes as one goes. It would be foolish to think that the best laid plans always cover everything and no more thought action is needed after the plan is put into action.
I don't think that a contender deciding to back out and support another is that rare. Happens in leader contests. Even the race for the Tory leadership had that in spades.
And then OG it becomes a case of "make it up as you go".

Nothing unusual there, it's the way I run my life.
Cloverjo, 8.22, no need to apologise, you and the rest of us are allowed to post our own thoughts on here as well !!!.
Thank you, gulliver. :)
Too true Gulliver

Shame some can't understand that it's a forum for all, even if their opinion differs.
I think the issue was that it was off topic. The OP is about the UKIP leadership race.
I think I'm having avocado, tomato on toast for breakfast.

Where would we be without your running UKIP commentary, mikey?
Precisely OG, but the gang's gathering, so shall I apologise for asking a pertinent question? I think not.
Toss some bacon in too Talbot, I'll join you for breakfast, I make an eye watering coffee!
How can a person apologise when they think they are always right, even when they are wrong?
Can't stand avocado, Talbot.
I wouldn't worry about naomi ... it's mikey who is the real passionate one when it comes to going off topic. It's his thread and we're in deep trouble when he returns :0/
Talbot: your breakfast is far more interesting than the OP. Toms on toast is one of my favourites, the only ones which taste like real tomatoes nowadays, unless you grow your own, seem to be those small cherry ones, they should be fried in good olive oil and be sprinkled with coarse rock salt and topped with a basil leaf :0)
Although he may not return ... as he is having trouble with his sat-nav.
Talbot, Very good. :o)

Gulliver, there’s little to be gained in saying I’m wrong when you don’t have the wherewithal to explain why you think I’m wrong. Running up behind me, punching me in the back, and running off again is cowardly and does nothing whatsoever for your credibility. Must try harder.
