/// Executives at LWT still believe in Barrymore, saying that he is one of the few entertainers who can present demanding live programmes. One said: 'There are not many people who can carry off this kind of high-energy show. Michael is loved by the public, despite all that has happened. ///

aog, //Michael is loved by the public//

They might be a little over-optimistic there.
divebuddy - LWT does exist - it's a production company which may well be making the show to which the link refers.
Michael is loved by the public - so were a lot of people who are not 'loved' remotely anymore, by anyone!
-- answer removed --
LWT closed down in 2002
divebuddy - it is indeed an old clip that you are reading, and at the time it was written, LWT was a specific TV station.

That station has been absorbed, but the LWT name has been retained by a production company that makes programmes for commercial TV - and I understand it is that company which may be making the new quiz format for Mr Barrymore.

If it comes to fruition, you are more than welcome to join me on the first night of transmission, I shall be putting things in the fridge in alphabetical order.

/// aog, I'm referring to his history of mental instability. ///

If any of us had been forced to experience the false accusations of such serious charges, I am sure most of us would be slightly mentally unstable.

Just look what such things have done to Cliff Richards?
aog, I don’t share your sympathy for him. Personally I think he’s a creep who isn’t capable of sustaining a high profile job on television - and I actually think that in comparing him to Cliff Richard, you're way out of order.

AOG - I don't think anyone would have anything but sympathy for Mr Barrymore and the ordeal he has endured.

But if his mental health is damaged, or he is too emotionally fragile to undertake the rigours of live television, then he would be very ill-advised to embark on something as pressured as prime-time mainstream television as his first step towards career rehabilitation.
divebuddy - I do share your cynicism - I for one don't think Michael Barrymore will be welcomed back by the viewing public - mainly because he will be seen as a 'has been' and his particular talents, which seem to consist of gurning like a crack addict and shouting 'Awight!!!' at random intervals are singularly unsuited to an audience that has moved on considerably in terms of its requirements in the intervening years since he was in his pomp.
AOG - My post - //AOG - I don't think anyone would have anything but sympathy for Mr Barrymore and the ordeal he has endured. //

cross-posted with Naomi's, so it needs a little adjustment - I don't think most people ... and so on!
Remember him on Big Brother in 2009? Evidence enough he should not be back on mainstream tv. Also his drug conviction in 2011 and more recently his appearance on the Jeremy Kyle show.
He is completely unstable.
Not often I agree with Naomi ha ha, but agree 100% with her last post.
Does anyone else remember the way he 'came out'? If memory serves me right it was during some kind of televised award ceremony, with his then poor wife cringing away in the audience.
