It will all remain to be seen.

He has been cleared of all criminal charges against him and I for one, wish him the best of luck.

I can't understand why there is so much vitriol shown towards him on this site.
AOG - I think a lot of people find his public persona unlikeable - I am certainly one of those.

But I would not wish any harm to his as a person - if he does resume his TV career I will be unaffected because I don't watch the kind of show he would be signed up for.
I wish him the best of luck too aog, but I'm pretty certain he's never going to reach the giddy heights of his previous fame.
Haven't read anything other than page 1 but it could be a good thread judging by this ...

Can I detect a little homophobia here, surely not?
tut :0/
No, me neither.
If he makes a comeback good luck to him..... neither liked or disliked him, although he was funny doing Strike It Lucky/ Rich.

I think he was a bit of a tortured soul and his personal life a lie.

Always thought Jim Bowen should come back doing what he did best.... Bullseye.....never got offered, which is real shame.

/// I think he was a bit of a tortured soul and his personal life a lie. ///

That was obviously true, but aren't we encouraged in the more enlightened age we now live in, to show sympathy towards those who's sexuality is not classed as 'the norm', rather than criticise them out of hand?

Jim Bowen, now you're talking Yogi.

"180"!!!!!!is that how old he is?
Surprising not - 79.
AOG – No-one on here has, or I suspect would, ever condemn Mr Barrymore for his sexuality.

It is his unpleasant personal persona that attracts criticism – not least embarrassing his wife in public by drunkenly advising the world of his homosexuality in typically boorish and self-aggrandizing style.

Add to that his behaviour over the death at his property – regardless of the lack of evidence to confirm criminal involvement, he did run away before the police arrived, not the actions of a reasonable home owner when a tragedy to which he did not contribute occurs.

Include his self-obsessed moaning about his lot in life at every opportunity, and you may find that these are the things people remember about him, and these will eclipse his ‘talent’ when his return to TV is discussed by the powers that be.
