Afternoon.

Occasionally I see ABers talk about how Hillary is "no better than Trump" or in fact, that Trump is better than Hillary.

Can anyone tell me why they think this?

Broadly speaking, I would always vote for someone with direct political experience who understands how politics actually works when not on TV talking about it.

Mr Trump has merely extended his existing TV career - a platform which means he can speak as he likes because it is his show.

That is not remotely a qualification to be a President.

We will have to see if the American public agree with you, but he ain't doing too bad so far.
mikey, the thing is you keep calling Trump and Trump supporters bigots but if you watch the video I posted you will see that the nice Hillary woman is a lying two faced bigot.

Indeed we will, but he won't be the first rhetoric-fuelled politician to fall away when the reality starts to dawn - Kinnock ... Foot ... Milliband ...
Breath of fresh air! He sounds like a fire and brimstone Methodist preacher from the 1900s. Some of Trump's statements:

Regarding political Correctness "If I’m president, you’re going to see Merry Christmas in department stores, believe me, you’re going to see it. We’re going to be saying Merry Christmas again."

Regarding ISIS"Europe is being absolutely swamped and destroyed with the crime and the problems, and it could be some sinister plot."

Regarding Mexico"Of course you can build a wall. It's simple - China. China, The Great Wall of China. Ours is going to be so high."

Regarding Bataclan ""Had bullets been going the other way you wouldn't have had 130 people killed. Don't let anyone the the 2nd Amendment away."

“Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.”

Regarding 'Asians' (all of them i think) “When these people walk in the room, they don’t say, ‘Oh, hello! How’s the weather? It’s so beautiful outside. Isn’t it lovely? How are the Yankees doing? Oh they’re doing wonderful. Great.’ [Asians] say, ‘We want deal!’”

“NBC News just called it ‘The Great Freeze’ — coldest weather in years. Is our country still spending money on the GLOBAL WARMING HOAX?”

"I have so many fabulous friends who happen to be gay, but I am a traditionalist.”

“I’ve said if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.”

“The line of ‘Make America great again,’ the phrase, that was mine, I came up with it about a year ago, and I kept using it, and everybody’s using it, they are all loving it. I don’t know I guess I should copyright it, maybe I have copyrighted it.”
Ronald Reagan used the slogan over 35 years ago during his campaign

Talbot... I have never called Trump supporters bigots, but have suggested that his core vote is the Stopid Vote, and I won't retract that.

I am hardly alone in having that view, am I ?
Well, Mikey, implying that his supporters cannot spell "stupid" may be not calling them bigots; however, it is a bit of an insulting denigration isn't it?
Stuey.........not at all. I get called a lot worse on AB for being a Labour supporter.

Anyway, if the cap fits ......
Stuey....are you the same Stuey that posted this, at 14:27 today ::::

Imagine the scenes in the country-stores and bar-rooms in the backwoods of Appalachia or the boon-docks of Southern red-neck counties:
“Hey, Jeb!”
“Yep, Billy Joe.”
“What in darnation is that there fureen looking couple, the one with the woman dressed up like a blue nun, doin’ lambastin’ a good old American boy on the TV?”
“Don’t rightly know, Jeb, but you, me and the rest of the clan is best be votin’ fer the good old American boy.”
“Yer darn tooting, Billy Joe. Aint no fureeners gonna be messin’ with us!
mikey, you have said the Republican Party is associating itself with bigots.
but regardless, what do you think of Hillary in that youtube vid?
Yer darn tootin', Mikey.
I have watched your link, and she has changed her mind on the issue of gay marriage, as many politicians have, all over the world.

In 2004, a lot of British politicians didn't support this issue either, including a lot of current Tory Mps, and still don't now, although Dave Cameron must be praised for his unstinting efforts to get the law changed.

But we are still faced with the main issue of whether Hilary or Trump would make a better President, and for me, and a lot of others on here, Trump just does not have the qualities needed.

Do we really want an American President that can say :::::

" I’ve said if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her" ?

lol Stuey !
Has she changed her mind or will she just say anything to get into the White House?

“Well look. I voted numerous times when I was a senator to spend money to build a barrier to try to prevent illegal immigrants from coming in. And I do think you have to control your borders.”

She's a tad fickle isn't she?

So the choice is 'fickle' or 'fruitcake'?
Tbh...I don't think Trump is all that intelligent. He certainly comes across that way in many of the quotes I've read. ( assuming they are direct, word for word quotes ). I think he makes statements without analysing or giving much thought to their meaning or effect. I can't imagine him being on the same level as other world leaders.

You could be describing any politician of any hue from any country , saying what they think will get them into power
That's the point, I can see that but some choose to ignore it
She slates Trump for his wall but forgets her own statements on the issue of immigrants.
