I think he had good faith that the US is a good ally to have. I'm unsure about the rest.

The tears would only be genuine if it was costing him money!

not really OG, this is more about Blair's motivation here.
He was not mislead he was desperate to keep his promise to Bush.
http://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-britain-iraq-inquiry-note-idUKKCN0ZM1A4
He was being intentionally 'economical with the truth' in order to get the commons agreement to invade Iraq.
He was even warned by a 'senior aide' over his stance.( read the link!)
like him or loathe him (me the later) he got to be prime minster 3 times in succession,so he must have been doing something right
As mikey would say, ' an ogre of a man. It never fails to amaze me how the left wing hang on his word'
There is nothing sincere or genuine about this snake oil salesman except his blood money. Looks like his 'Cherie no more' finds no further use for this charlatan now she has established herself on the back of this has been liar.
Appealing to Tory voters I think.
A 'Labour' PM whose 'Role Model' was Thatcher. That about says it all!
Did any of you see the 'Blair Rich Project' on TV a day or so ago?
No, I don't buy his message.
Neither do I.
Poor old Corblimey !

Chilcot Report: Jeremy Corbyn told to 'sit down and shut up' by Dudley North MP Ian Austin

Blair look haunted and as if his debt to the Devil is about to be called in.

Cymbeline Act4 Scene 2 Guiderius

Fear no more the heat o' the sun,
Nor the furious winter's rages;
Thou thy worldly task hast done,
Home art gone, and ta'en thy wages:
I certainly hope so Togo
I haven't seen any tears from him, crocodile or otherwise. He says he'd make the same decision again so that says it all for me.
he was elected again after beginning the war, so I think that pretty much exonerates him in the absence of very clear evidence that he misled the country deliberately, and Chilcot despite spending years hunting for it didn't find any. He's cleared of sexing up documents.

The Iraq war was a bad policy that never looked likely to succeed (and in fact probably prevented the war in Afghanistan from succeeding). But if governments make mistakes and are then re=elected, all the enquiries in the world can't punish them.
A bit flippant - but I'm very glad that I believe in an afterlife. He'll get his comeuppance, I'm sure.
//But if governments make mistakes and are then re=elected, all the enquiries in the world can't punish them. //

We have a proud history in Britain, of serving up our punishments to Governments and Prime Ministers who are prepared to lie to and deceive the electorate. We also intend to keep the privilege.
such as who, Togo?

The electorate had the opportunity to throw him out of office. It didn't happen.
He has become "persona non grata" even with the daaahlings. Haha. Let him talk to his ill gotten gains, gaze at them, count them, worship them even. It was all he ever aspired to, aided and ably abetted by the lego head Cherie. They will find no comfort there.
he's still very well thought of in America, understandably.
