I think these surveys can produce whatever finding you want. Other surveys have shown they are a net benefit.
Once again. The lies from Osbourne are revealed. Never trust an economist. They get it wrong as usual. This time, no doubt, deliberately with Cameron's pushing.
Another reason, as if I needed one,for Brexit.
Even if those figures are correct, Brexit would hardly make any difference since EU immigrants contribute only £1.2 billion of the £17 billion cost
yeah, wots 1.7 bn between friends eh? so lets ignore it.
Is there a question here?

No question = no debate, just comments.

Then why come on, if it is not just to be aggressive and obnoxious?
Come on now ANOTHEOLDGIT, you're not always aggressive and obnoxious...
yes AOG, that's on top of our subs, if we left we'd be £34bn up for a start. Yes AH there is a question it's subtext perhaps but the underlying question that you and your anti British Cabal ignore is simply "why would we pay that let alone be a part if it?".
andy-hughes, I don't see what point you're making. Lots of threads don't ask a specific question.

Immigration is costing us billions? I believe it.

Clearly there is not a question - that would be marked by a question mark, but never mind. The subtext, like the OP, is a statement.

I asked a simple question - I should have expected to be met with nasty abuse - and of course I was not disappointed.

And for the record, I am unaware of any 'Anti British Cabal', and I have certainly not been invited to join it!

Corbyloon - //Come on now ANOTHEOLDGIT, you're not always aggressive and obnoxious... //

I'm not sure you have thought that through ...!

I am just teasing - this is not an invite for the usual suspects to steam in with a tread-derailing tirade ...

Figures published by www.fullfact.org last year refute the figures that have been put forward by the Labour Force Survey.

If you saw stats that show that immigrants contribute more than they cost the UK economy - how would you react?
Naomi - //andy-hughes, I don't see what point you're making. Lots of threads don't ask a specific question. //

I wasn't making a point, I was asking a question - but in view of the building hostility, let's just forget about it, I wasn't that interested anyway to be honest - this subject is done to death on a virtually daily basis.
SP, I'd doubt them.
naomi24

Thank you.

I think that's revealing. Like you, I would believe something (statistical) that backs up what I believe, and would cast doubt on stats which refute what is believe.

Human nature.

Hang on - haven't you seen the AB Editor blog?

From Monday 30th May, the News section is going to be changed. The 'Current Affairs' and 'Politics' sections are to be taken down, and replaced with 'Immigration', 'Muslims' and 'Miscellaneous Brown People Stuff' sections.

This is a major success for those of us who have been campaigning for AB to recognise that there are many contributors who feel that these areas need their own sub-sections.

However, it may mean that those of us who are interested in news in general will never hear from some other contributors again.

We should take this time to bid farewell to them.
SP, you’re mistaken. I don’t automatically believe statistics that confirm my own thoughts – I’m willing to change my opinions. However, where immigration is concerned I think there’s an awful lot of spinning going on - in more than one area.

Have you forgot to include a LGBT section, seeing that you are a particular regular contributor?

/// However, it may mean that those of us who are interested in news in general will never hear from some other contributors again. ///

So what would you do with your spare time then, perhaps do the work you are paid to do, or perhaps join up in a 'I agree with you' brigade?
AOG

But you post more on LBGT issues than anyone else on AB.

At this point, you're supposed to write, "Well, that's because I have the guts to post on LGBT issues, whilst others shy away from the subject".

Then I respond with, "Hang on - you're just contradicting yourself."

And then you go silent.

And the somewhere in the mid distance a dog howls, and ripples make their way across a still lake in the moonlight.
