Deep defence cuts by this Government have now left the Falklands with naval protection....I hope nobody tells the Argies !

I reckon Cameron is hoping the Argies try to invade. How that will strengthen his vote to stay in Europe.!! If we needed a aircraft carrier to supply vital C.A.P. for the rest of the amphibious assault group whilst out of Typhoon range of the Falklands he can go cap in hand to the French and ask if we can borrow theirs providing we return it in good condition. He can...

I've never *not* agreed that we need to defend the Falklands... as you would, perhaps, have noticed, if you'd ever read any of my previous posts on the subject. Perhaps you ought to read what people say, rather than what you want them to so that you can get angry about it?

Also, Mikey, what is it with you and picking a BA then changing your choice like 5 minutes later?
You should stop trying to stereotype people TTT, then it all becomes easier
never said you did jim, you and mikey just surprised me today that's all.

ToraToraTora
must make you very happy mikey.

Has mikey expressed that he thinks the Falkland Islands should be left unprotected?

mikey4444
TTT....not sure why you think it makes me happy.....a lot of Welshmen died, as well as others, to ensure that the Falklands remain safe, but are the Islands safe now ?

I thought you were English?

jno
Secsee, as far as I know Britain doesn't give money to India.

Can you get me clarification of that , jno?
We have said foreign aid for India will be stopped but has it?
I can remember the Indians saying they didn't want or need it. But I don't think that stopped us 'forcing it on them'.
"Has mikey expressed that he thinks the Falkland Islands should be left unprotected? " - my comment was mainly targeted at the fact that it was a dig at the tories rather than a belief that mikey does not want the islands defended.
They said it was peanuts, sven.
Mikey, how do you reconcile the need for more defence spending with the pacifist views of your party's leader?
A dig at the Tories and a counter dig at Labour or a Dig at Labour and a counter dig at the Tories is how most political threads go isn't it?
I think they want cashew instead

Jim...I don't change my BA very often, but in this case it was more than warrented.

Talbot....a few years ago, I had the very great honour of meeting Simon Weston, at a charity event that we were both helping out at. But my nationality has nothing to do with my admiration of the many service personal that served in the Falklands...besides, I have lived in Wales since I was a boy.

Zacs.......I don't. As far as I know, Corbyn is anti-nuclear weapons, not anti-military.

Anyway, this thread is about how our present Tory Government and the demise of our once great Royal Navy, under its watch.

Seemed odd to pick out the Welsh ... I have equal respect for all.
When Cameron authorised the bombing of Libya in 2011, it was initially a comfort to me that there was a British aircraft-carrier in the Med. Sadly, I later came to realise it was being towed by a tug en route to a Turkish breaker's yard!
well maybe we can get assistance from the Scottish Navy QM!
Question Author
Alas, I don't think the scottish ( there, you see, I am learning ! ) have an Aircraft Carrier either....I suppose we could pinch one of their nuclear submarines.

Scotland have their own Nuclear Subs? Wow!
The Scottish

Mikey, your glorious leader wants the subs to go to sea without their nuclear warheads. I suppose they could ram the Argie ships(?).
We actually have 2 aircraft carriers being built for the RN. I really don't see how you can bring parties into this discussion, Labour have always favoured defence cuts, they prefer to spend their money on the hard done by unfortunates.
