No They don't which is why situations like this arise, despite well researched and thought out RoE's they cannot cover every aspoect of a conflict especially guerilla type conflicts like Afghanistan
My father fought in WW11 but didn't discuss it much. And though he was quite a peaceful man I get a feeling that he saw some very horrible things and did things he was not too comfortable about. This is war in all it's ugliness.
Bosnia
Bazwillrun - tbh if that is all you can come up with to call me then you do not have the intelligence to debate with me!
UK troops didn't fight in Bosnia.
the SAS were there Jack.

Dave.
ok.....Regular UK troops didn't fight in Bosnia. Better?
I don't think one wrong deserves another. But what do we do when the enemy doesn't play by the rules? What next cameras (and yes I know they use them) to check every killing was legal? Or we could have a referee to ensure both sides fight within this agreement.
I don't know how spurious this allegation is but it might give a flavour what our troops are up against."Snipers calling warnings before engaging targets"???????????

Who said I was fighting?? I had a different type of role there
ninefingers - It was a little difficult to determine quite what you meant by just typing 'Bosnia' without additional information.

And, of course, any 'regular' UK troops had a very different role to play during that unholy conflict.
^^^Here we go . Obfuscation when ignorant.
Okay agree a touch ambiguous, sorry
Wasn't meant for you 9fin.
Was it meant for me, Togo?

Ninefingers was gracious enough to accept my explanation...

JTH, RM's were deployed as a Rapid Reaction Force (I was no longer with them then)
As mentioned on The
ROLL OF HONOUR UNITED KINGDOM ARMED FORCES

Surely they were part of the NATO force and essentially 'peace-keepers' rather than fighting there as part of the British Armed forces?

I guess not everyone saw it a Peace-keepingMarine Timothy Patrick Coates - 42 Commando Royal Marines
Aged 28. Shot in Sarajevo, Bosnia 17 April 1994.
//Ninefingers was gracious enough to accept my explanation...//

Which of course grants him huge respect.

But why pounce on a one word reference?
Perhaps 9fin had something to say.
Did you not want to allow him space to do so?
Some of those guys suffer still for doing the 'talkers' dirty work.
Is that the tactic? Shut them up they know too much.
I would rather listen to 9fin.
LoL....Why do *you* feel the need to continue when ninefingers seems quite happy to move on?
