Talbot, can you in turn ask yourself what sort of maniac would carry out such actions in a city recently traumatised by a terrorist whilst the Police are at a heightened state of alert and security?
What perturbs me most is your concern for this madman!
Insert atrocity after terrorist in my last post.
if you're a law enforcement operative, what you have to do now (at otherwise being at risk of prosecution and trial) is to, without violence, detain these people. then, when they blow you to bits/hack your head off/drill you full of lead (delete as applicable) you can be happy in the knowledge that you brought the full force of the justice system to bear on them.
I have no doubt the Gendarme can justify his action and should be exonerated.
Retro,
Over here he'd be suspended whilst the investigation into the death takes 2 years.
Over there, he'll get the Croix de Guerre!

What er erm .... concern would that be?
Chilldoubt
For sure. :-(
All your concerns that he was killed whilst wearing a fake suicide vest!
If it was real, all intended targets have had a lucky escape. If it wasn't, an idiot/fanatic/madman has been despatched post haste!
From the BBC website:
Three police officers were among the 17 victims of the gunmen on 7-9 January, 2015.

That in mind, I've a feeling the Police in Paris won't be taking any chances.
Just a hunch, mind........

As he ran at an Armed Policeman waving a large knife and yelling
"Allahu Akbar" I would suggest he got everything he deserved.
Good riddance !

I had you down as smarter than you are showing on this thread, Chill.

''He wasn't likely to do too much arm with a fake suicide vest'' (reports say that is what it is)

That post was to show that I believed that this man/idiot/fanatic/madman wanted to be shot dead by the police.

All the clues are there.............
I haven't seen any concern shown towards the deceased , maybe I've missed it.

Based on the scant details so far it seems the Police have acted the only way they could, am sure more details will be released soon.

And he was going to use the knife as a tickling stick, yes? And I had you down as someone who was lucid......
Question Author
I think I am lucid but I don't like to jump to conclusions.

Anyway I am feeling quite pleased with myself for judging this event what I would call 'Bang-on'

I would give myself best answer if I could! ;0)
Looks like Allah ain't completely akbar after all.

Quality marksmanship BTW.
At least the French had a rifle that worked and hadn't been dropped in blind panic.....
// If it had been here then the Policeman would be suspended and facing arrest for Murder.//

Nope

the law is clear on this
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting_of_Stephen_Waldorf

which was what twenty y before Mark Duggan or Jean Charles Menenzes

[ of course if the person you shoot is SLEEPING it may be difficult to keep your face strength as you say that you thought you were in imminent danger ]
