andy-hughes, //Your comment that 'An Arab has no integrity when it comes to money' is - in my view, a racist observation, and I offer no apology for that view.//

By your own admission you know just one Muslim - the one who cuts your hair - and I'm not sure he's an Arab - so your view can hardly be said to be informed.
//Just to clarify - I did not bring up the concept of prostitution at all //

That is untrue. You were the first to bring up the concept and word in your 1219 post. Neither aog or I had mentioned prostitution.
If women put themselves in a vulnerable sexual position either by dress, location or action and there is a certain type of male in proximity then the consequences may be as described in this thread.

The males may be Caucasian, Arab or indeed ***.....it matters not.

I am familiar with the Arab culture including their attitude to women and found it very similar to my own.....I rather liked the Arabs (men and women).
It seems that we can no longer use the word..N.e.g.r.o.
retrocop - //Well you tell us you worked in an office. The only male amongst a load of girls.//

I actually moved out of that office years ago.

// You work for BT. //

I do.

// You do the occasional interview with musicians for a publication that most people have never heard of. //

I do extremely regular interviews for four magazines that are available in any branch of WH Smiths, and a variety of others all nationally and internatioanlly available.

So if you are trying to suggest that my entire life experience is encapsulated in that (inaccurate) pen picture, then once again you are entirely wrong - you have no way of knowing what I have done and seen in my life, or the experiences that I have, so please stop playing the psychologist - it appears to be outwith your abilities.

" have not grouped a whole race together. I am saying the Arabs I have personally worked with have no morals with regards to money.//

That is not what you said - you said that Arabs have no morals with regard to money - a racist stamen.

If you say that based on the Arabs you have met and worked with, your perception is that they appear to have no mrals with regard to money - that would be a more accurate description of your experidnce, and the view you have formed from it.

I would have no issue with that - we all form our opinins, right or wrong, based on our personal experience, but that does not give you experience of 'all Arabs' which is what you clearly stated it did.

//The Sutan of Brunei, Saudi Kings etc all have ,what we call, bag men running in their wake. These carry bags full of envelopes stuffed with various amounts of £50 notes to be given for services rendered. (Bribes in my book). I have never been bought but I have seen many a person who has. //

Interesting background, but again, not mentyioned in the point I called you out for.

// I can speak with some knowledge on Arabs, their wealth and lack of integrity. //

No, you can speak with some knowledge on some Arabs within your personal orbit - not an entire population of Arabs.
Naomi - //andy-hughes, //Your comment that 'An Arab has no integrity when it comes to money' is - in my view, a racist observation, and I offer no apology for that view.//

By your own admission you know just one Muslim - the one who cuts your hair - and I'm not sure he's an Arab - so your view can hardly be said to be informed. //

No argument - but then, I am not the one making sweeping statements about Arabs' integrity and morality with regard to money - am I?
Ring a ring a roses.
retrocop - ////Just to clarify - I did not bring up the concept of prostitution at all //

That is untrue. You were the first to bring up the concept and word in your 1219 post. Neither aog or I had mentioned prostitution. //

If you re-read my 12:19 post, you will see that I was responding to AOG's post where he referred to prostitution - making him the first person to raise it on the thread. he did not refer to it by name, but I think you would agree that it was what he was referring to.
Sqad - //If women put themselves in a vulnerable sexual position either by dress, location or action and there is a certain type of male in proximity then the consequences may be as described in this thread. //

That is not what is being debated - I think we can all take that scenario as read.

What is at issue as far as I am concerned is whether it is right for a civilised society to simply raise its collective eyebrows, shrug its collective shoulders, and sigh that this is what happens - instead of questioning whether it is acceptable to make that assumption regarding female and male behaviours - I am arguing that it is not.
//he did not refer to it by name, but I think you would agree that it was what he was referring to.//

Would I? You make assumptions!
I think AOG's comment - Young women 'Selling my body for cash' is actually quite obviously a reference to prostitution and not an assumption.
retrocop - ////he did not refer to it by name, but I think you would agree that it was what he was referring to.//

Would I? You make assumptions!

OK, here is the quote for you –

//How do you Mr Hughes hope to change something that has been taking place from time immemorial, are you naive enough in believing that somewhere in the distant future a certain class of female is going to wake up and say "selling my body in exchange for cash and wonderful gifts has got to stop, I am going to get a job at TESCOs? //

I don’t think there is any room for any assumptions there – do you?

Thank you mamyalynne - we cross-posted - but I have provided AOG's quote in case anyone is still misled.
andy-hughes, //No argument - but then, I am not the one making sweeping statements about Arabs' integrity and morality with regard to money - am I? //

No - you're making sweeping statements about racism instead.
andy-hughes, ((Sqad - //If women put themselves in a vulnerable sexual position either by dress, location or action and there is a certain type of male in proximity then the consequences may be as described in this thread. //))

// That is not what is being debated - I think we can all take that scenario as read. //

You've lost me. I thought that was precisely what we're debating.

Seems to me that our Mr Hughes is hankering after one of those envelopes stuffed with various amounts of £50 notes for services rendered.
// Cases like this are very difficult to prove guilt in. I wouldn't be surprised if the jury believed that he was lying through his teeth -- but that would not be enough to bring a conviction.// jim 360

Jimbo - Hi jimjim ! you are wasted in math - have you thought of transferring to Law ? Lord Flogger of Hanging Ditch said that a course in math logic had turbocharged his advocacy - Mackay of Clashfern I think -

yeah - I did a bidda law before my accountancy exam last night ( I passed ! ) and fell upon Woolmington v DPP - which is the leading case on proving your case - and the judge misdirected the jury - they dont have to believe the defendants story all the have to do is think that his explanation is reasonable .....
'You do the occasional interview with musicians for a publication that most people have never heard of.'

Bet you once prodded a wounded animal with a stick Retrocop!

Retrocop was trying - and failing - to suggest that my life experience is nowhere near as cosmopolitan and colourful as his - for which he has no evidence whatsoever.

It doesn't bother me - yes my writing outlets are niche, but they make me a very nice income, and I get to meet and see major musicians, so I am perfectly happy.

I'd love to think I could 'render a service' that would attract even one of the £50 notes - sadly, I don't think I can!!
