/// Ah, the Bubble and Squeak spouts forth once again. ///

Isn't that racist? oh no I forgot the Greeks don't have the benefit of being protected from abusive name calling.
AOG - Do you say the same to TTT every time he uses the term?
Is rhyming slang racist?
No but some of it is derogatory like Sweaty Socks for Jocks.
Yes, but Bubble and squeak, greek? Not racist in my opinion.
......or derogatory!
Not at all...just a bit stupid :-)
what's a national treasure ?
Apparently it depends who you are Sipowicz. Many posts on here using the expression "Bubble & Squeak" in fact I had to ask what it meant. Now I've used it and it's suddenly become racist? Hey ho, some of us just can't win.
I'd say childish rather than stupid.
It's stupid when you start a thread using slang and the first 20 answers are asking for clarification.
Hmmm, you may have a point!
Racist? surely it's 'vegist' is anything. Just shows that AOG is unable to distinguish between racism and xenophobia.
if anything

Something else that I didn't know, the fact that Greeks were vegetarians.

Vegist / VEGISM : Discrimination or prejudice directed against people who eat a vegan or vegetarian diet.

'Vegist'? Ah, well, that's the whole French nation written off then (actually, there is a lot of very deep racism in France, but that's for another time). I once went for a meal with a couple of veggie friends, having carefully telephoned the restaurant first to check that they could cater for vegetarians (most of them don't).

The chef very proudly served them beautifully cooked bundles of haricots vert, artfully held together with - bacon strips! :0)

Don't think that had percolated as far as the Vienne tony-av!
Question Author
Ah well, he did try though.
Indeed he did, tony, and it was appreciated. Said veggies carefully unwrapped their beans and ate them with the rather good sauce which accompanied them. :)
