//He told Sky News he wants Britain to come out of the "current EU" but would support Mr Cameron if he gets a "really good deal" in renegotiation.//

So where's the civil war in that remark? Pretty consistent position I would say.

I would never join a club where they would let someone like me be a member !

Mock if you like Naomi, but what I predicted is coming true. That old reliable demon, Europe, is going to tear the Tories apart, as it always has in the past.

And that is the real reason why dave, a EU devotee, didn't want a referendum in the first place.
There will, always be healthy disagreements amongst the ranks within a political party. To escalate that to Civil War is rather silly.
I knew it! You were a contemporary of Groucho Marx!
Didn't take long.
I always thought of Redwood as Spock, actually, and Hague as the Mekon :-)
Question Author
ichkeria...Actually we had both as Tory Governor Generals, in Wales.

Hague wasn't so bad...we quite liked him but Redwood was just plain awful.
The Leader of Plaid Cymru at time, said this of Redwood ::

" He is about as popular in Wales as a Rat Sandwich "

Where he really excelled though, was in the effort that he put into miming the Welsh National Anthem, a small task that every Welsh Secretary should be capable of. This still makes me giggle all these years ! La, la, la !

Our bacon was saved, however, when he unwisely stood against Major in 1995. Once he had announced his intention, we saw light at the end of the tunnel at last...he was going to be successful, or he was going to fail. Either way, he was gone east over the Severn Bridge for ever.

As a long time English immigrant Residing and working in Wales can we assume you Speak fluent Welsh and sing their anthem in Welsh when required. As a person who works for the Welsh NHS survey I can assume you speak Welsh don't you ?
Question Author
We don't expect our politicians to speak Welsh Retro...it is a fiendishly difficult language to learn afterall. We do, however, expect them to make a rather better job of it than Redwood did. Some respect should have been shown, and Redwood failed, utterly. We should remember that the Tories had very few Welsh MP's to chose from, and none of sufficient calibre, for the post of Welsh Secretary, and so we had Redwood foisted on us. To be frank, he was hated.

And, no, I don't speak Welsh, in common with nearly 80% of the Welsh population, but my employer does have Welsh speakers available, if people request them, which in South Wales is very rare indeed.
Mikey4444 will leave in a minute and a huff...
Yes I remember the Redwood attempt at the Welsh anthem. I thought that was when he got the "Spock" tag.
Question Author
