TWR...do you think we should stop benefits? Put the disabled on the street to beg?

Like I said in your 'yet again' other thread, benefit scroungers are the minority!!
I find your stance really contradictory TWR
you hate the cuts in benefits, austerity, foreign aid, immigration and the tory government
However you also seem to hate people getting benefits and dont support the party that tried to get foreign aid decreased during the coalition (tory) .
I doubt you'll find a single person in the world who would be happy to pay benefits to people who didn't qualify for them.
I think you are probably a closet conservative TWR!
In some large cities in Canada -one of the most prosperous countries in the world, you will find beggars. You will find young adults asking to take your shopping cart back to the rack and to keep the dollar. You will find people in hotel car parks asking for money . You will also see guys who would absolutely be on Disability in the UK working for a living -I've seen men in wheelchairs working in Walmart with no legs and a young blind boy clearing tables in MacDonalds -yes really he was blind. All in all I think the UK benefits system is good but open to abuse and this is what needs addressing. I would hate to be in a situation in the USA where I could not afford private insurance and one of my children was really sick -or the prospect of losing my job because of ill health and having to sell my house. The UK has a good system, just some lazy people abuse it .
Stuey has told us many times that he gets paid handsomely by the Canadian government for doing *** all. He stays at home playing with his clock all day before going to the pub in the evening to spend his Wobblypop vouchers.

bednobs is right you are very contradictory.
Talbot -if stuey is retired he will have paid a huge chunk of his working income into his state pension.
Yep, we have a good system that supports those that need it, but, there are those that scrounge and bludge from it.
Happens everywhere when support is on offer.
do you regard the ill and disabled as scroungers TWR? how can you tell the difference if they have an invisible health problem or disability?

Is it a sin to ask a question on this site now, no, I am not against the Scroungers that your taxes pay for, it was an Interesting question I asked, I thought I asked but it seems not.
Question Author
Bednobs, send me a rope will you.
you are not against benefit "scroungers"?
.....ok then i take it back you apparently WILL find people who would be happy to pay for benefits for people who don't qualify for them - you!
TWR
I am not against the Scroungers that your taxes pay for

bednobs is right you are very contradictory.
This site is getting more and more nit picky by the day - too many people just gunning for a fight. I understood the OP question and English is not my first language -whats up with you folks?
TWR you commented in your other thread as follows:
'Small minority or not Ummmm, they still cost the Country money'
Yet today you say:
'I am not against the Scroungers that your taxes pay for'

You can see why people are confused.
i don't think anyone didn't understand the q though retrochic?
I am not the target audience of your question as am not overseas, but I think any country that has a benefits system will have some who abuse it.

Thankfully these people are in the minority.
I read it that TWR was commenting on the programmes on the TV about Scroungers etc. and wondered if people in other countries had these programmes too (as in I'ssues') At no time did he indicate any personal views.
no, i am am extrapolating his views from other posts
TWR...interesting topic.

Allow me to tell you a story. Friends of ours went to the UK 2 weeks ago and whilst in the UK, the husband needed hospital treatment (cut lip).
The had both been non-resident in the UK for 35 years and had never paid UK tax or NI for that time. At the hospital reception they "came clean" about their situation, but was asked if they remembered their NI number from 35 years ago. They did indeed and was readily accepted by the receptionist and was treated. When they looked on the husbands wrist band, it was the wrong name and the wrong NI number and they wondered if they should point out the error.....but they didn't bother.
The NHS is filled with poor, inefficient administration.

In Spain:

The over 65's have to fill in documentation which is sent to the UK, which confirms that all medical care is cared for by the UK

The under 65's do not have free health care until they have paid 2 months Spanish National Insurance.

A "soft touch" and a philanthropic society is what the UK wants the world to believe........fine...... but you can't afford it.
