Does anyone know what the problem is in Thanet South ? Why is the count taking so long ? If Orkney and Shetland can get theirs in before 01:00 and all the Sunderland and Newcastle seats only took less than 2 hours, why can't this small area of Kent ?

Sky News confirmed that at 06:58 this morning, they hadn't even started counting the votes...the ballot boxes were still sealed !

and thats all youre worried about ?.......

I think they are doing a recount.
Bit eighteenth century innit ?

Under the control of the returning office I think

the ones that do it quickly - for the one day of fame every five years
do it by volunteers. They all agree that it is useful to be mentioned once every five years rather than have Little Scrogbourough never mentioned except in the question - " Litlle Where-borough ? "
Exit poll suggests Al Murray the second-funniest candidate in South Thanet!
// and thats all youre worried about ?.......//

no I am also worried about World Peace, people drowning in the med, and whether my pension will arrive tomorrow, since you asked

cassa..there is no sign of any recounting.

I still don't understand why they started counting so late. Does anyone have a link about this or any idea why its happening this way ? I have seen the Independent link but it offers no explanation, no does the BBC !
The explanation from the local paper..."The Parliamentary count for Thanet is not expected to start until at least 5am, three hours later than originally planned.

The delay is blamed on a turn out thought to be some 80 per cent, with polling stations reportedly having asked for more ballot boxes during today's vote, meaning the verification process is still taking place."

// cassa..there is no sign of any recounting//

Blimey mikey are you still here, I would have thought you would be half way across the Med. in your rubber dingy by now, on your way to seek political asylum?

AOG....not very funny but any attempt at humour is welcome this morning.

I shall probably regret asking this and it may be stretching you a bit to answer, but exactly where would I go, in my dinghy ?

Morning AOG, and a lovely morning it is too!

Thanks Jomlett for your link, but it sounds a very lame excuse to me. All voting stopped at 22:00 last night, and I fail to see why the local Council didn't make contingency plans.

Aren't we supposed to welcome big turnouts ?

Wouldn't be stretching me at all.

I put "half way across the Med". so the choice is entirely yours, we Tories believe in the freedom of choice, so it is up to you to decide where you would wish to go.
High turnout.

Farage lost by 2000.
Would anyone like any toast?
