If it is, what an abuse of the Official Secrets Act.

This sort of high level corruption really sickens me, as do the acts themselves.

Unfortunately, it probably is.
I wonder if it is too much to hope that we will see a thorough investigation into the abuses of privilege and power into these likely cover-ups?
Wasn't this in a tv documentary a couple of months ago? Why is it being re-exposed?
Who is policing the police ?

Who is policing the people who are policing the police ?

Who..... ?
It's a public duty of us all ;-)

//Why is it being re-exposed?//

Well I for one was not aware, and personally I don't think you can over expose high level corruption and abuse of power.
I am sure it is true and there are more high profile politicians who are guilty as well.
Trouble is , if i was to journey down to the met HQ and asked for certain information - i would probably be 'offered a lift' back home in a Vauxhall Insignia
Watch out in the near future for politicians and others , resigning to ' spend more time with their families '
People in power have never used that power to give themselves less of anything - and that certainly includes self-preservation.
No one blaming Europe ? Incredible !

Why would anyone blame Europe?

This is a pretty serious problem and is far above political point scoring.

Brionon this is far too serious a matter for inane comments.
We live in a corrupt and evil society. Unfortunately I still do not think all will be exposed. Here in N. Ireland there is yet another cover up of non recent child abuse due to the fact that N.I. Politicians, Police and MI5 members were involved.
These are indeed shocking findings, but these are all historic cases where the most of the offenders are dead...easy pickings..no? As long as these inquiries clear the long list of historic cover-ups can we hope that at the end of this whole business it will be a case of lessons really being learned. I hope that in future the culprits will be reported while very much alive and dealt with accordingly by the powers that be.
why didnt anyone say - yeah go on then
OR
take surreptitious copies ?

after all they are paid to know the law and the Official Secrets Act is part of it-

Having signed the official secrets act when I was techie at Porton Down, I can tell you it doesnt work like that - Also by that time, Clive Ponting has blown a hole in the Official Secrets act with his public interest defence
I don't think an independent inquiry is necessary, this is now too prominent and in the public eye (aka the Press) to hide behind the veil of the police brother (and sister) hood.
Cyril Smith , Leon Brittan and a 'senior minister in the Blair government' were all at it allegedly

I am surprised to see Nicholas Fairbairn's name mentioned. I remember him criticising homosexuality in the Commons in the crudest of terms.
^^ Going out of your way to criticize homosexuality can be a cover for a 'secret gay' . They think the condemnation will divert people from thinking they could be gay.
