I cannot see how anyone would benefit from seeing this barbaric piece of work.

I recall when 911 happened, and the media constantly re-ran film footage of the planes hitting the towers. I psychologist on Radio Four opined that not only was nothing gained by this, but that it was actually bad for people to constantly see these dreadful images.

I cannot see any merit of any kind in seeing this film.

I do think Piers Morgan was ghoulish, but I don't have a low opinion of him - just his action in this circumstance.

He claims it enabled him to reach a specific level of anger which he feels he would not have experienced without seeing the video.

That compares with banging your head repeatedly on a wall to experience a certain level of pain - yes it works, but why would you feel the need to do it? Exactly what purpose is served?

I think it should be available for people to view, but I certainly would advise against viewing it unless you are up to being shocked and distressed.

It is very easily found for those that wish to see it.

I entirely disagree - I think the reasons are entirely material.

To me, they belong in the same category as asking someone if they would like to won a handgun. If they say 'Yes', I am immediately curious to know why.

And I am curious here too - it's not immaterial as far as I can see.

I have to say - many many years ago, I saw a video of an execution, a very brutal execution, out of sheer curiosity and immediately regretted it. That was about 20 years ago, and to this day the imagery is still pin sharp In my head. Once you have it, you never get rid of it. I urge you in the strongest terms not to go to those dark places on the Internet.

I would not describe such videos as 'stomach churning'...they are more 'mind churning'.

Just seeing that one many years ago informed my opinion of anyone who seeks them out. So yes, I admit hypocracy, but it's informed hypocracy.
