UKIP fielded a grand total of 0 candidates in the last Bishop Auckland Town Council elections in 2013 (therefore amassing a grand total of 0 votes).

Mr Race's mandate to represent his ward is 0. He should resign and fight a by election as a UKIP candidate, like an MP would.

This is a very hollow 'victory for UKIP.


And lets just put this Mayoralship into perspective.

Bishop Auckland is a Town Council with very few responsibilities. The County Council does most of the areas duties. The Town Council has just 11 councillors.
He was elected in the Westwood Close Ward and he got the lowest votes of the 3 Labour Councillors elected with just 315.

But it's a Mayor position; who cares ! It's just opening Supermarkets or judging the knobbly knees competition.

Makes a lot of sense. The labour group elected Mr Race and he has seen first hand how labour do very little to help those they claim to represent.

- It was crammed full of UKIP members because they had been tipped off about this stunt. They were not there for the people of Bishop Auckland, they were there for their own gratification.
