Should we ignore this and hope we dont have another Neville Chamberlain moment or is it the start of something more sinister.

Once again the liberal left and their PC ways have caused this backlash, lets just hope it does not get out of control and the Muslims take the place of the Germans in the 30's.

If you read the whole piece there are nearly as may counter demonstrators as there are protesters. But as always that does not make good headlines.
Free speech seems to be alive and well in Germany. Where have we gone wrong?
I don't think it can be ignored. The fear of the left that Nazism among the indigenous population is re-emerging in numbers is grossly misplaced. Fundamentalist Islam is as far right as right goes. From those who have the sense to recognise that and are concerned about the direction their country will take in the future, what else can we expect?

Eddie, you need to read the article again. 17000 protesters in Dresden, 4500 counter-protestors, so hardly nearly as many. In Munich there were 12000 counter-demonstrators, but the number of protestors is not given.
///Once again the liberal left and their PC ways have caused this backlash,///

No evidence that that is the case - this is just one jaundiced opinion suiting a personal agenda.
Neville Chamberlain moment?
You can only dismiss and push people so far.
Why hasn't the attacks in France been widely reported?
// You can only dismiss and push people so far.//

you mean push the muslims or be pushed BY the muslims ?

bit of double edged sword that one innit ?
//the Muslims take the place of the Germans in the 30's. //

shouldnt this be

the muslims take the place of Jews in Germany of the 30s ?

I am very aware as a Roman Catholic of being linked with the IRA in the eighties - and so were my co-religionists.
Are you sure about that, Peter? As far as I'm aware it was only the Irish Catholics that were linked with the IRA.
No rally in Nuremburg?
Oh god any of you if you can bear the 2 hr film on maitre Verges who defended all sorts of no-goods in France,

at one point a Action Rouge/Baader Meinhof [ stalinist] terroristen sits next to the PLO terrorist who opens a conversation with: Hitler he was a good man n'est-ce pas ? ' and the German ( or should that be Hun ? ) thinks to himself:

O my god I am in the wrong room .....
Nice to see that there are some in Germany that can see what is happening to their country and are prepared to do something about it.

So nice to read a report on such things without the protesters being given labels such as 'knuckle draggers' 'fascists' 'Islamophobics' 'racists' etc etc.

I once thought that Britain had a backbone?
speaking as a consumer, ummm I AM sure ....

Whether or not Cardinal Hume took Cahal Daly to the vatican laundry each time they met over Daly's covert support for terrorism
Daly in the end passed up any opportunity to meet His Eminence

um yeah - English RCs do NOT support IRA bombs was a political sentiment too far that some people couldnt get their heads around ....
Sadly "the West" have been over generous in the last 30 or 40 years with their welcome to immigrants from all over the world.

While immigrants have always been welcomed in the UK (and other European countries) these were in relatively small numbers and their arrival did not affect the country too much.

But now the indigenous populations around Europe have had enough.

We now have cities where almost 50% of the population are immigrants, or the children of immigrants.

We have schools were 100% of the children are "non UK white", and where many cant speak English, and English is not spoken as the main language at home.

We have some groups of ethnic people tying to set up their own laws and rules, and ignore the official UK rules.

We have honour killings, female genital mutilation, arranged marriages, terrorist on the streets and so on.

We let in people like those from Somalia, whose country has been at war for decades, and they thank us by setting up huge drug running gangs and terrorizing the streets in the areas where they live.

I have been predicting for years that we will have a civil war in the country between the "locals" and the "immigrants".

Seeing those pictures from Germany I can see a situation in the future where Muslim shops and businesses are "targeted" the same way Jewish shops and business were targeted in the 1930s.

They will be set on fire, and the owners driven out of business, the same way Jewish businesses were treated.

We have seen recently in America with the shooting of the two policemen in their car by a black man (and other crimes by both whites and blacks) how their attempt at a racial mix is not working.

Sadly I think Europe also has a dodgy future with this failed attempt of a racial mix and I can see it getting VERY nasty in the next few years.
You would have thought that the Germans would have learned their lesson in the 30's, but no...it seems that racism is rearing its ugly head again.

To quote from Wiki ::::

"Josef Schuster, chairman of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, voiced his opposition to the group, saying that the possibility of an Islamic conquest of Germany would be as "absurd" as a resurrection of the Nazi regime"

So for Jews in 1938, now read Muslims in 2014. Just another excuse for the Neo-Nazis to get organised again.

Are you kidding me? Take the rose tinted specs off and have a good look. Read VHG's piece above.

//Neville Chamberlain moment? //

History not your strong point then?
"PEGIDA followers insist they are not Nazis, but are simply concerned about the "watering down" of their Christian-rooted culture and traditions"

Yeah, right ! Didn't the Nazis say just that before Kristallnacht ?
omg......Are we going to declare war on Germany?
Mikey, read my post at 09:11 Tue 23rd Dec. These people aren’t demonstrating against immigrants per se, but against the overwhelming influence that Islam is having upon their country. Ask yourself why Islam? Why not some other immigrant culture? Any other immigrant culture? Really think about it – and then tell me about the dangers of a far right agenda which is precisely what fundamentalist Islam embraces. And before you go bleating on about all Muslims aren’t the same, remember that Muslims are Muslims and if push ever comes to shove, they aren’t the people who will be perceived as the enemy. You, me and the rest of us, including the Buddhists, the Hindus, etc., will fill that role.
