so basically and unsurprisingly we have caved in to our dictatorial whip crackers overseas.

doesnt matter if its 1p or £1billion , its obvious they dont have the nuts to tell them where to stuff their "demands".
Where is Maggie when you need her. She would not have caved in. Wimps the whole lot of them.
OMG here comes the Maggie card again!
Well is it half in total or not? Seems obvious it's too early to know 100% Distasteful as it may seem wasn't this bill part of the EU rules we signed up to?
Gideon "changes the law!"

Mr Osborne welcomed the agreement after a four-hour meeting of EU finance ministers in Brussels, in which he said it had also agreed that the UK would pay the additional sum in two interest-free instalments before September 2015.

"Instead of footing the bill, we have halved the bill and delayed the bill," he said.

"Instead of challenging the law, we have actually changed the law. It is a real result for Britain."

On Sky News now the correspondent in Brussels says we WILL pay the full amount in that we will pay 2 interest free installments next year, but in 2016 we will NOT get our rebate as expected.
And the amount of the rebate we won't be getting back is.......

Answers on a postcard please.
Absolute tosh..
Sir Prize. Your retort reminds me of a 'spitting image' joke.

Mrs T what would you like for lunch.
I'll have the roast beef.... and the vegetables ma'am. They will have the same.
LOL^^^
Was never a fan of Maggie, but I'm prepared to eat humble pie here, she would most certainly have put Britain first and told them to 'stuff it' ! We are governed by utter wimps !
gutless little ***! still it'll keep the anti british happy!
I'm amazed how many are now pinning for TGL! she would kicked Junckers arris from earoles to breakfast time!
UK to pay £1.7bn EU bill in full despite Osborne’s claim to have halved it... http://gu.com/p/435pc/tw via @guardian
Question Author
Yes, as Osborne said 'it's a result for Britain'.

By that he meant if you're a gullible fool, one brain cell short of village idiot status then this is the UK lions mastering the toadying EU and the muppets who run it, at immense cost to the UK taxpayer.

In reality, we've crumbled in a tactical withdrawal sense (as opposed to out-and-out surrender) and will indeed be £1.7 billion lighter come 2016.

These clowns are making it easier for Farage by the day.
Yes, lot of 'double-talk' coming from Osborne & Cameron, imo.
Does Osborne really think that we cant see through 'a result for Britain'! It seems from what I can see from the later posts that we pay the whole lot anyway. Someone give the man a handbag for Christmas...
"I'm afraid that the problems he [Milliband] is having seem more to do with the Great British Public's scepticism for intellectual people of ideas"

Er...what ideas would these be then, ichkeria? Apart from raising taxes to increase public spending, that is (which is hardly "intellectual").
This is all about propping up the other nations cock up over the single currency and the less well off countries in the EU. The EU needs us purely and simply because of that.
