If high profile people are leaving others will leave and a tricle will turn to a flood. Advertising revenue will fall as will the share price. How can twitter fight back?

I'm similar to Andy in this respect, I have never used it either but I cannot comprehend why anyone would, It's a bit like smoking for me in that respect, I have strong view and I have never tried it and cannot comprehend why anyone would so I guess the strong opinions are based on bewilderment rather than experience.

Yet such strong opinions on something you have never used."

I've never used a nuclear missile either, but I've got strong opinions about them!
It's actually a very good platform for communicating in short messages especially within groups eg I'm a memebr of a number of cycling groups on there, you can communicate far quicker via twitter than any other media
I love Twitter. Quick response from firms when I tweet a complaint to them. Far better than a phone call or email.
>>>I find the entire concept to be attention-seeking time-wasting self-aggrandisement

You obviously don't use it then, you are only going by the alarmist headlines.

I follow my local council on twitter and find out all sorts of useful info of things the council are doing.

I follow my local police, the National Trust and English Heritage.

I also follow a few local organizations and a few local councillors.

I don't follow any "celebrities", film stars, pop start etc.

If Twitter is used properly it can be a useful tool.

So is a knife, but it can also be used to kill someone.
I don't understand why it's imperative that news has to be instant. Using twitter to find out what the council is doing for example, do councils move so quickly that we have to be told immediately they've make a decision? looking at people in the street these days there are so many with the mobile phone in one hand( mustn't miss that vital message) and a cup of coffee in the other (I'm so busy haven't time to sit and drink it). Surely nobody is that important or busy?
some are, some aren't.
