apparently a passenger has displayed ebola-like symptoms.
Unsure if it's actually on the tarmac but if so I should imagine it'll be a living hell inside the cabin and it's difficult to see how they'll deal with it.
Keep everyone on board, or release them ASAP?

OMG, imagine the panic.
If they're in France, won't they just casually migrate to the UK?
Maybe it's not ebola symptoms. Maybe the passenger just had the inflight meal!

Sky News says they are on the tarmac and have been moved to a separate area. Matters won't be helped in light of what this idiot did last week either:

Bottom line is they keep everyone on board until tested but unless the individual has been spraying bodily fluids around then there should be no risk, it's not an airborne strain of the virus if it was this would be much much worsee
The incubation period is 2 to 21 days. They can`t keep everyone on board for 3 weeks.
This is scary stuff.
Can they arrange to have the plane hi-jacked by al-quaeda?
No but you test them first then move them to a safe enclosed area that can be used for the next 21 days.

183 on board. I would imagine there are a few frayed tempers, to say the least.
Why don't they stop people flying out of the infected areas? That way they have a much better chance of containing it and trying to control the epidemic
I doubt it Chilldoubt. People tend to become subdued in situations like that and are very cooperative with the medics.
CD....those blokes were joking?
I realize that some of us, including me, are making light of it: however, I certainly would not want to be in that situation. It must be quite terrifying to be just sitting there helplessly.
the saving grace is that for anyone reasonably fit, an early diagnosis plus full-on First World nursing will mean a good chance of survival

jim360 gave this answer on a thread last week:

Nothing like a bit of hyperbole...

Assuming the Ebola epidemic continues to grow at its current rate, by the start of January we might expect to see of order 15,000 deaths due to the disease. The total population of West Africa is of order 340,000,000.
---------------
Yet a news story last night claimed that it would be tens of thousands in the relevant countries by Xmas.
Question Author
No ummmm, the guys in blue were the HAZMAT team, they took off a guy who had hoaxed that he was from Africa and had ebola.

As ever, there is no known cure for stupidity.
Question Author
Apparently they're allowed off the aircraft but are being coralled into staying in the immediate vicinity.
Anyone been watching 'The Strain'? Reminds me of the first episode. They'd better check the cargo hold for any large crates...
Any of you read my post in History regarding the Spanish Flu of 1918? I found it an interesting comparison with the potential situation existing today.
