The Queen is in Glasgow and she bumps into Alex Salmond, who is First Minister and leading the fight for Scottish independence.

Her Majesty : How nice to see you, Mr Salmond.

AS: Nice to see you Ma'am. Now, what are we going to call Scotland when we win Independence ? How about calling it a Kingdom, and then I'll be a King?

Her Majesty : No, we don't like that.

AS: Empire, and I'll be the Emperor?

Her Majesty : No, I think not.

AS: Alright, so how about calling it a Principality, and then I'll be a Prince?

Her Majesty : No, Mr Salmond. I suggest we call it a Country and you can carry on as you are.
Not anything I can do about it.
Well I give a ****. I must be getting soft in my dotage. As a true blue Englishman in my youth I never flew the flag for the Scots even though my in-laws are/were Scottish. I was named after the patron saint because my birthday fell before St Andrew's day but I still had no time for Scotland.
I know ,although I am in my sixties now, I am too young to have served in two major world conflicts and should not harp back to wars but I have a deep sense of gratitude to the brave and proud Scottish men and women who served in the arm forces to keep our union free from tyrrany. I have no truck with the poles in our country for the same reason. I never went to Scotland in sixty years until my mother in law died in June this year and I had cause to visit it twice. It also gave cause for me put my bigotry behind me. May be in my slightly naive view of international finances etc I feel that if the Yes vote wins then we will not suffer too much in England. I do not want the Scots to suffer any hardship or suffer should they go it alone. They deserve better than that and I for one wish to keep them on board with the Union There diet,IMO,is atrocious but I love their haggis and would hate to lose that into the bargain.
When Scotland leaves, the rump of the UK will survive on the mince produced in Westminster.
Yes - and with some good wine too.
Planning to invade France, are you?
