Mark Carney was regarded as the best candidate for the job my members of all political parties (and, indeed, by financial experts across the world). He was deliberated head-hunted but it was always regarded as unlikely that he'd actually accept the position (which he has only eventually done on the condition that his tenure will be a short one).

Carney has been the Golden Boy of International Economics for the last 8 years. He is the Cristiano Ronaldo of the banking world. He is a star player, of course he knew Cameron and Osborne before his appointment.

Mark Carney is an ex-Goldman Sachs banker. There are numerous connections between Goldman Sachs and the Conservative Party, not least one of its major backers, the former Goldman Sachs employee Michael Heintz who has given £5million to Tory coffers.

Goldman Sachs hid the Greek Government's Debts so that Greece could join the Eurozone. And the resulting Euro crisis when the *** hit the fan can be laid at their door. Fortunately they had their man running the Eiropean Central Bank too, so they were able to make money on all sides.
