I think this is going to be the danger with bits of information and people second guessing. I imagine Diana was surrounded by military with her protection people, her bodyguard in the car was military, she was probably never far from someone in the military or with connections to it most of the time.
Yes, jno, it sounds very much like 'my son-in-law was told it by a man in the pub/ the sergeants' mess, who said he'd heard it from someone who had said that he'd heard...' doesn't it?

I've given a précis, but I'll see if I conjure up a link from my high security, MI5 vetted, subscription Times online page!
I thought the driver was speeding and over the drink/drive limit? In which case, what else is there to know?
I never ever believed that about the driver, but it served it's purpose.
Yes you'd think that was case closed wouldn't you. What about questioning why two adults would get in a car with a driver who was apparently so over the limit that it must have been obvious.
If someone was responsible for one of my loved ones death I'd want the truth.
Exactly Prudie, why would the bodyguard allow them to get in the car? Surely his job was to check for all sorts of danger!
It is human nature to believe that 'it won't happen to me' especially if you are rich and privileged and probably even more so if you are in a hurry to get from A to B without being pestered by photographers. Therefore I am not in the least surprised that things turned out the way they did.
Of course one doesn't know, but the same questions are always in my mind; if you want to kill someone it's a bizarre way to do it and secondly - as can be seen from some comments here - it's hard to envisage such a scenario without taking on board a whole raft of unlikely cover-ups involving an improbably large number of people (the driver wasn't really drunk etc etc)
what, there is evidence she is still alive ?

and on the moon ?

and married to Elvis ?
Idiot.

Zacs-Master, It's fantastic news... however, justice will never be done.
Didn't her bodyguard survive? Maybe its him with the new evidence.
No, her BF died. The bodyguard survived. Apparently he was the only one wearing a seat belt.
And he cannot remember anything about the crash.
That's understandable though. Most people who are in serious car accidents don't remember anything about it.
I'm so sorry. I didn't mean the 'idiot' comment to post. I typed it, then removed it, but it somehow stayed.

Apologies.

On Sky Press Preview,Nigel Nelson, the man from the People ("Hey! You are the Man from the People, and I claim my £5"; one for older ABers there) hinted that story originated with someone connected with that recent court martial where the soldier was convicted of having ammunition "as a gift". If so, the story sounds immediately suspect.
Correct me if I'm wrong but apart from royalty, isn't the bodyguard one of the only people who never cashed in and sold his story about the crash and those involved?
Those responsible will never pay for their crimes.
Have any of you seen "Unlawful Killing"?

The 'seat belt' aspect is a good point. Had they all been wearing them then this wonderful master plan would probably have been foiled.
Or maybe the plot involved hypnotising them into forgetting to wear them :-)
Anyway I'm sure they had the champagne out at the Express Towers last night
