David Cameron, A Liar Or An Idiot?
Last Wednesday (before the local elections) he said...

I agree with your point of too many 'disabled' people not working, mrs o - I see that every day at work. Some of my patients have bugger all wrong with them, but claim they are going to jump off the local bridge or hear voices when they blatantly don't - usually wen their benefits have stopped or they become homeless. New Labour actually inherited an economy that was at the top of a bubble.....which would have burst irrespective of whichever party had got into power. On paper I suppose it looked good - but personal and banking debt had bankrolled that illusion, just like it had in the 1920's......and we have a similar bust now. My point is, after all the posturing by the tories, we are still no better off financially and have little growth to show for the slash and burn approach of cameron et al. Let's just not forget that the tories are all for seeing the rich ok......and bugger the poor and anyone who needs something from the state. They can dress it up however they like, but it is a party run by toffs, for toffs. Not the average working joe.

No I do not agree with Gromit, David Cameron is not a liar and certainly not an idiot. he sometimes may be economical with the truth, but to be rude enough to call him an idiot, just so Gromit can get his political point scoring under way, just shows that Gromit does not know what he is talking about.
Anyone education enough to rise to the position of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, is far from being an idiot, and I am not one of David Cameron's fans.

It's a question not just of academic education, but also of how he as a leader conducts himself in the modern world. And he and his cabinet fall short, again and again. Witness all the rubbish that Iain Duncan Smith gets up to, or Gove, or Chris Grayling, and so on. Always coming out with bold and unworkable promises, and having to backtrack rapidly.
It's foolish to keep making the same mistake. And it's idiotic to expect to get away with it.

This is the second time Cameron has pledged a vote on EU membership (remember the Lisbon Treaty?) knowing full well that his 'promise' was not deliverable.
I have not called Cameron a liar or an idiot, it was a question with one of these ? at the end. I certainly think he is dishonest and untrustworthy. He is not an idiot, but I echo ichkeria earlier when he said Cameron has been promoted way beyond his abilities.

To be fair to DC it's easy to be a strong leader when you have a massive majority like Tony Blair or Margaret Thatcher in their first terms.
When you're balancing a tiny majority like John Major or worse a coalition like DC you're always going top seem weak because you're a hostage to people who you have to negotiate with.
However I do think DC has developed a bit of a bad habit for announcing things quickly that he then finds he cannot deliver due to lack of support or because they're simply illegal or impractical
That is entirely his own fault and whilst it doesn't quite make him an idiot it's a serious flaw in someone charged to run the country

Do you really believe that Cameron thought he could introduce legislation compelling his successor to hold a referendum? Do you really believe he then found out he couldn't? Remember, his 'promise' was the day before elections.

Really some people ought to read things and also report more accurately.
1. DC has said all along that the referendum would occur if he is re-elected; he is not committing Labour or Libs (joke there on those yellow pests) to such action and he can't.
2. He would be right to go for a referendum pre the election; that he has the power to do so. Whether it would be voted for by Labour or Libs, that is definitely questionable but a loss to him on his proposal would emphasise to the UK where his opposition lie.

An isolationist Britain would find it very difficult to survive, even if we have over-inflated views of ourselves as some neo-Metternich balancing factor, the role that we played in Europe from the late 17thC to pre WW2. Economically it would be a disaster - and UKIP haven't even put a budget together, never mind it balancing or being in the positive. At least the Labour Party have that even if it is on the wrong side of economic sense.

the emphasis being "prepared to introduce" not that he will.............then he found himself beached but does that justify the bile that Gromit wrote.
