i can't recall another case where, from the outset, people for and against the accused have publicly claimed such opposing accounts of what happened. It seems that every few hours someone from one side or the other comes out with an explanation to try and sway opinion as to whether Pistorius did or didn't kill his girlfriend. The media will lap up anything about the case because it is sensational, it features a high-profile celebrity, and most importantly to them it features a beautiful young girl - the greatest obsession of the media today. Both the coverage and the counter claims are so totally distasteful considering the girl is dead. Her hideous demise and its effects on her loved ones appears completely overlooked as the media milks the case for all its worth and Pistorius' friends and foes focus on clearing or blackening his name before a court can decide. Not guilty until proven though, MT....that's the point, and I am sure you are right when it comes to throwing in the scared part, "I was asleep" bit, etc - not so sure about the "stupid" though, the point being that we are not privy to all the evidence that the prosecution and defence have, so it's all speculation and scenario creation.
Who shoots blindly through bathroom door ? God the number of times I'm up for a wee through the night..I'd have been killed hundreds..nay...thousands of times...doesn't add up...he'll be clutching at straws to find a reasonable, believable explanation.....
/// The Police naturally want to persuade the world that Oscar must be guilty, ///

The more the police want to persuade the world of his guilt, and the media who also seem to have him guilty, surely only makes a stronger case for the defence that he can't possible get a fair trial.

Judging by some of the replies on this thread even the majority of AnswerBankers have made up their minds that he his guilty.
stick with it, JJ, your record of defending the unjustly charged is pretty good so far
he doesn't strictly speaking have to come up with an explanation, it's the prosecution's job to prove that he did it, and in circumstances amounting to murder (ie not manslaughter).

Still, he might find it useful to have an explanation to hand, just in case

/// It sounds like he fired the gun. ///

Why did it make that much of a bang? :0)

When you say 'guilty' I'm assuming you mean guilty of murder? What could he be innocent of? Did he not shoot her, was it someone else?
Fear he is doomed.....pair of running blades for sale ?
///as to whether Pistorius did or didn't kill his girlfriend. ///
I don't think there is any doubt that he killed her, surely the question is wether it was an accident or murder?
It should be a very simple case to prove.

Who said there was a burglar?
Not the police.

Will there be any evidence of a burglar/break-in ?

If so he must have come through the bathroom window r was a bit of a pervert (why would you be rummaging round the bathroom?)

You seem to want him to be innocent JJ at what ever cost.
It looks very much like he ended the life of an innocent you woman, that to me makes him as bad as any other non famous killer.

I haven't said he is guilty, I have said it looks very much like he is guilty.
Nay, murray, he will need those when he jumps prison......
LOL aog
I don't think it was murder, I think it was manslaughter.

Even a hothead would have too much to lose in his situation.

He was also seen very distressed and trying to revive her. Why deliberately take a life and then desperately try to save it?
Dt....did he do high jump too ? Need to get over the wall first.. !!
there must be some spring in those things!
Young woman ( note to self .....don't eat toast and type)
Nm.....because the enormity of what he'd done took over....too little too late...
Dr..lol...mick....not with your mouthful pleeeze...you've been told about
that
//You seem to want him to be innocent JJ at what ever cost//

LOL ... seriously?

Is that how my posts have come across?

Rather than ... don't accept the version fed to the Press by the Police, and keep and open mind until we have heard from both sides?
My bet is that it will go down as manslaughter as reasonable doubt will be well-seeded by the defence, but I come back to the "not guilty until proven" which I guess is a legacy we left the South Africans with in their court system....
