It has been reported that the nurse who answered the phone and was duped by the prank regarding Kate in hospital has been found dead. Such bloody sad news.

That is terrible news, just goes to show how far some hoaxes can finish up.

One more 'Angel of Mercy' that we can least afford to lose.

funny? gromit? then i've had a by-pass as well.
Gromit, this lady may well have had other troubles, but she obviously felt she had let not only her profession down but the Hospital and the Royal Family too.

Practical jokes are fine in context but this was a step too far - do I feel the DJs were responsible , if she took her own life ?? Maybe not, but hope they remember this for the future.
I didn't find it funny either. What if something had happened to Kate or the baby and the nurse had discussed that with the DJs?

As I said, I don't think they could have predicted that this poor woman would take her own life, but they must have realised that it could have ended her career at the very least?
It's still early days but if (and we don't know yet) that the prank instigated this poor young woman's suicide, I don't think we should lay the blame at the DJs.

If we rolled back to last week and someone said to you, "What do you think the outcome of this prank would be?" - I bet none of us would have answered, 'The nurse involved would commit suicide'.

The Duke and Duchess will also be sadded and upset by this -
Sad news but it seems a bit OTT to blame the hoax callers for her death.
Prince Charles himself made a joke about it the other day. However, interestingly, the BBC website report mentioning that fact has now mysteriously disappeared ...
That is dreadful news, poor woman. She must have taken it really to heart. I'll admit I heard the phone call on the radio and was amazed they weren't twigged, it sounded just like a Foster's advert. I'm sure the DJs are feeling wretched by this.
I dare say the BBC would have removed that report out of respect to the nurse.

I don't think anyone could have predicted this outcome, but the DJs still have to take some responsibility for their actions. I don't think anyone would blame them entirely, but they did play their part.
That's very sad - she wasn't even the nurse who broke patient confidence, she only fielded the first phone call. Very sad indeed.
It's still something the DJs shouldn't have done even if they are only a contributory factor in her death. If I was in hospital and a stranger called pretending to be family I don't think I'd laugh it off.
the beeb site hasn't been pulled yet http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20645838

dreadful, dreadful news.
"I dare say the BBC would have removed that report out of respect to the nurse. "

Or to spare Prince Charles's embarrassment more like.
Indeed it is very sad - if indeed she commited suicide because of the hoax call .
I feel extremely sad for her family - especially at this time of year as well .

Personally I didn't consider the lapse in protocol to be any big deal - however it may be that it was for her - or someone made it a big deal for her .

It would be interesting to know whether or not she was hauled over the coals by the hospital
gromit
i agree with you,
Apparently not, Bazile.
what is ummmm ?
Is what has been reported in the papers (transcript of the phone call) genuine?
I need to jump through hoops to find out about Mr Alba when he's in hospital.
//It would be interesting to know whether or not she was hauled over the coals by the hospital //

According to the article the hospital had been giving her their full support.
