before a crown court trial?
I was supposed to be in crown court 2 weeks ago for a trial (see my profile for details). I have waited, and lived on a knife edge, for the past 6 months waiting for this and then on the week of my trial the police have decided that they want more statements from witnessess (witnesses that they originally refused to take statments from because they contradicted the police that arrested me...long story). This has now resulted in my trial being delayed. My barristor doesnt seem to have a clue whats going on and is as bewildered as me as to why the police (or CPS) have had 6 months to get a trial underway and are now delaying it. My head is seriously messed up with all this and I just want to know how long this is going to carry on for. If anyone has any experience like this I would like to hear from you.
Thanks.
(my access to the internet is limited but I will get around to reading your replies, my apologies if I dont immediatly reply, thanks)

I am afraid that this is common , trials are often delayed sometimes for many months.
In your case I am still thinking that the police have realised that they do not have much of a case and are desperately trying to make their side of things more beliveable.
sounds like they are trying to build a case having realised there is not enough to proceed...may well be dropped if the new witnesses contradict their version of events..
I agree, it sounds as though the case against you needed reveiwing and "beefing up" before going before the crown. I assume that the police must prove that the evidence or witnessess that they are revisiting hold potential relevance and if so would be allowed to delay until all avenues had been investigated?
By the way it would make things easier for us to help you if you just posted new information on your old thread. I just happened to see this and recognised your name , I could easily have missed it. I have 'subscribed' your other thread so I get notified if you put more infromation up.
