I've not heard Adele's song yet, but nothing can possibly be worse than the theme song from Quantum of Solace. I remember sitting in the cinema, cringing in my seat and wishing I'd bought earplugs when it was playing. Truly dreadful singing (whoever they were!).

Seems all right to me- not the most memorable theme tune maybe, but pleasant enough - I think there have been worse Bond themes...

However she was disappointed when she learned it wasn't the code for the vending machine

You have obviously forgotten the Gldys Knight one and the sheryl Crow one were were much worse than Adele's.

I initially thought Skyfall was very good but I have quickly grown bored with it. With music written for film, often the visual of the movie and the soundtrack combine to make a memorable performance. I suspect when embedded in the film Adele's song will work well.
