Apologies if someone has already started a thread about this but I wonder what your thoughts are on this.

Madeline would be 9yrs old now and it's 5yrs since she went missing.
If she was found and had been brought up by a loving family, would it be right to take her away from that family?
Taking into account that someone has broken the law by kidnapping her and should pay the price for that and knowing that if it was my child I would want her back, I wonder how traumatic that might be for the little girl.

That's a difficult question, and I'd have to really think for a long time before attempting to answer it - but I can't understand why the police seem so sure she is still alive. Perhaps there's a lot we don't know.
It won't be an option. Whoever has her didn't adopt her legally so they've committed a crime.

The McCanns have tirelessly looked for her....they won't see her and think oh, she's happy, we'll leave her here

If she's found I don't think the trauma will be the first thing on their minds. I'm sure she will be given all the counselling she needs.
best place for her is with her biological parents. ( if she is ever found ) :(
Pity they couldn't be bothered with her on holiday.
Besides that evening Jimmy, what else did they do on holiday?

I don't want to be doing all the italics and brackets etc but ummmm when you said *they won't see her and think oh, she's happy, we'll leave her here* then I would have to say as JimmyCooper said is that they did actually leave their children alone while they went out with friends so they obviously think of things differently than you and I.
No, they should just be made to pay the fund the £2.5 million reward which other people have so kindly donated. That way they will now how they have made us all suffer, not just Kate and Gerry. We are all feeling for this little girl and that amount is just a fraction of what she is worth to us all as we all know that pets and children are priceless!
Well they might as well stop looking for her in that case missprim.

Clearly they are awful parents and shouldn't be considered to have her returned to them if she is ever found. While we're at it, we better take the other two off them too.
Has anyone else read Kate McCann's book??
They are guilty of throwing caution to the wind...as many people do on holiday.

Let's not McCann bash. It's been done to death.
If they find her alive, which I doubt, the first thing the McCanns will do is cash in on it by writing a book or some other way than they can think of.
In case it isn't clear, there's an eliment of sarcasm in my above post.
beggars belief why they never got prosecuted over it!
Did they do anything illegal?

Think of the amount of parents that sit at the back of the garden getting the evening sun, glass of wine, kids in bed. So far away from the house they wouldn't hear if someone came in a stole their child.

Evian you always seem to go from 0 to 60 in less than a second.
I was trying to make the point that most of us would want our children back and most of us would not go out for the evening and leave our children on their own so obviously they think of things differently and it's always possible that if Madeline is found that her parents might say what ummm said they are unlikely to say.
However having said that then yes I would say that leaving young children on their own is bad parenting but that doesn't mean I would want their other children taken off them.
They would have learnt by this awful mistake that they made.
Because there was no evidence to suggest they were involved, Bernie?

Or do you just mean for neglect?
They weren't far away.....no different from parents sitting out in the garden.
I would have to say as JimmyCooper said is that they did actually leave their children alone while they went out with friends so they obviously think of things differently than you and I.

Your words suggest to me you think they are unfit parents.
Why is there no interest in Ben Needham, still missing after 13 years?
I just hope they find her .
