Some years back Perth was a city and then it was a town - now it is a city again.

How strange. My dad came from the area and Perth was always known as "The Fair City".

We lost our City status back in 1975 - don't think anybody actually noticed for years.
Also Chelmsford in Essex and St Asaph in Denbighshire.

St Asaph could be a candidate for smallest UK City with a population of just 3,491 which is less than the average home attendance at St Johnson FC.
I of course meant St. Johnstone FC.

Do we have a football team in Perth? Wonder if we have won any matches. :-)
Er,

St Johnstone Football Club
McDiarmid Park
Crieff Road
PERTH

Which is why I mentioned it above.

Sorry - my sarcasm smiley has gone bye byes.

We had my dad's after funeral coffee at McDiarmid Park. I have also eaten cream of oatmeal soup there - nobody else seems to serve it, it was actually quite good.

:-)
How on earth does one lose a city status? Darned careless IMO :)

Cream of Oatmeal soup is lovely, also a good base for home-made cream of chicken or cream of mushroom.
So will the sweaties hand it back for someone else when they get out the UK ?
Well done to the folk from the City of Perth. Its Lovely place !
