The European Court of Human Rights say we cannot deport Abu Qatada from the UK because of his human rights. So are we stuck with him indefinately?

At the same time the ECHR says its OK to imprison those for their natural lives those that pose a threat to the country.

Could one solution therefore to issue Qatada with an ultimatum. ie Live the rest of your life in custody or leave the country voluntary to a country of your choosing?

leave, but what's to stop them from coming back. If they return to the country of origin or elsewhere, and then he is killed by some opposing faction, will Britain be held to account for the death of that individual, i suspect so.
Anywhere other than here rov, but we're powerless to do anything. Germany dictates to Strasbourg who then dictates to us what we can and cant do.
I wonder how many convicted terrorists are living freely and with housing and benefits in say..Berlin. Any?
I don't think Abu Qatada has ever been prosecuted in this country for any Terrorist offence, let alone convicted. He was convicted in Jordan, in his absence.

It is ironic that he is wanted on terrorism charges in Algeria, the United States, Belgium, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, and his native Jordan and yet we are unable to get rid of him.

I can see why we cannot deport him to Jordan which has a poor human rights record, but it is unclear why we cannot be sent for trial in other EU countries who want him such as Belgium or Italy.
There's the CIA solution. Free helicopter ride over a middle eastern country and the choice of jumping or being pushed.
Germany dictates ?? Are you obsessed or Wot ??

It is not only terrorists that are the problem, we let in anybody, and then cannot get rid of them thanks to the ECHR

After serving nine years in a Lithuanian jail for raping a seven-year-old child, he was allowed to settle in England in 2009.

The following year he attacked a woman, leaving her ‘horribly disfigured and in pain’. He then forced her to perform a sex act on him, and filmed the assault.

Initially he was jailed for life with a minimum sentence of eight and a half years, but appealed in the Court of Appeal, where yesterday they reduced his minimum jail term to seven years.

This report also highlights a case were a Pakistani asylum seeker was allowed to stay in Britain for more than a decade.

The Pakistani was allowed to make 16 appeals or new applications despite being repeatedly rejected, at a cost to taxpayers of at least £250,000.

I haven't seen stupid spelling oh human since the sad demise of R1Geezer and Kayless. I wonder whatever became of them?
In fact the number of crimes involving Lithuanian's in the UK is rising alarmingly.

The man charged this morning (but not tried yet) for the murder of the couple in the West Midlands is a Lithuanian, as was as a nulmber of other major crimes over Christmas and the new year, including the 4 men killed while brewing illegal liquer, the woman who killed her new born son (she is also wanted for killing a child in Lithuania), and the man who buried his girlfriend in a pit while alive - she survived (and many other crimes by Lithuanians in the Uk).

But I guess we have being a member of the EU to thank for that, as we now cant control who comes here from Lithuania (or many other countries).
Is there any way the powers that are supposed to protect this nation can fit Abu Qatada up with a computer hacking crime? The U.S. will take him off our hands pronto!
Marcin Kasprzak who buried his girlfriend alive is Polish.

These white wogs are look the same don't they.
...and yet we're all too keen to allow extradition of the British bloke who didn't realise he was selling arms to Iran - it doesn't add up.

Whatever he thought he was doing, he acted suspiciously by trying to cover his tracks. He used a fake name, and sent the money through an intermediary.

// US authorities claim Tappin used the alias "Ian Pullen" in contacts with the undercover agents, and according to an indictment filed at the Texas western district court in February 2007, Tappin spoke with the customs agent at least five times in 2006 to arrange the deal. He then wired a $25,000 payment into the fake company's bank account to pay for the batteries and sent a $5,000 cheque to one of the undercover agents through an intermediary. //

Imagine what Gromit would have said if someone changed the word 'white' to the word 'black' in his offensively racist statement?

But of course, they would first have to change his 'are' to 'all' before it made any sense.
If we are being pedantic, my dad used to tell me that Wogs aren't black, they are Western Oriental Gentlemen in origin.
oh puuurlease........

And I was told it stood for 'Workers On Government Service'

Those being Indian workers.
in the days of churchill, a wog was anyone who was non-british.

so your colour argument is hogwash.
Wikipedia

The saying "The wogs begin at Calais" was originated by George Wigg, Labour MP for Dudley, in 1949. In a parliamentary debate concerning the Burmese, Wigg shouted at the Conservative benches, "The Honourable Gentleman and his friends think they are all 'wogs'. Indeed, the Right Honourable Member for Woodford [i.e. Winston Churchill] thinks that the 'wogs' begin at Calais." Wigg's coinage, sometimes paraphrased as "Wogs start at the Channel" or "Wogs start at Dover", is used to characterise a "stodgy Europhobic" viewpoint, and more generally the view that Britain (more so England) is inherently separate from and superior to the Continent. In this case, "wog" is used to compare any foreign, non-British person to those more traditionally labelled "wogs".

So, in context I was saying VHG is a "stodgy Europhobe'.
In my experience other nationalities use a range of very derogative terms to describe of insult others of different colour, race, religion, caste etc etc. and you rarely hear of a prosecution for racial abuse. Funny old world.
