...Amy Winehouse has died.

Personally, I'm very sad because it looked like she had sorted herself out. Too much talent, too many demons.

>>>it looked like she had sorted herself out.

But she was booed off stage only a few weeks ago for being drunk on stage and had to cancel the rest of her tour.

So it does not sound as though she had sorted herself out.

Very sad but not unexpected.

I'm 51 and I can see exactly what you are talking about Sp. I do find it really irking that the more jeuvenile amongst us ( New Judge etc) see fit to make light of someone's death with derogatory remarks and general unpleasantness about the deceased. It really shows a lack of so many things which should not be fundamentally missing in an adult. Also it's not a requirement to comment on the atrocity that happened in Norway when discussing an entirely unrelated thing, and I would have imagined that any right minded person would have understood that people obviously consider that devastating.
//and hopefully those who come after her// - think we can do with less suicides in the Musical world, with all due respect. Think you may have made an error there......
Very well put Nox.

I think we're going round in circles now, and its all because everyone wants the last word. So have the last word someone, it'll make no difference to how we all feel.
Daisya, No no no, the younger generation, of which I'm not one will hopefully see her as the talented victim she was, not a role model. Listen to her music, her voice, the sadness that lies there
Last word.........................Some unholy war...........
Well said Nox.

I feel quite disgusted by New Judge's posting, especially as he claims never to have heard of her before today.
Such a talented artist, one of the best albums for years. She had so many demons, to much money so quickly and on a self destruct button. Lets face it, the media could'nt get enough of her. I'm in my 50s and think she was great. Very sad, such a waste.
What a shame, a pity she didn't take the help she was offered
"Love is a pain resound"
I am in my 60's and think Back to Black is an outstanding Album.
Amy, I for one will miss you, and though I don't fully understand your pain, I hope you are in a better place.

I never knew yeh, I only heard of yeh, "its your life"

Some posts on here have now lead me to withdrawing my 'generational' remark. Obviously her voice and music have a far greater reach than I assumed.
I'm 21, and it must be said that by any standard I'm extraordinarily ignorant when it comes to music. (e.g. I'd never heard of Meatloaf until about 4 months ago, which my friends kept telling me was really shocking, so I had to go and look him up. Ditto for J-lo in my first year. Oops.)

I had heard of Amy Winehouse, but it must be said that this is the first time I have ever heard anything positive said about her. The only tone in which I'd ever heard of her previously was incredibly derogatory. Now that I've read through the thread and her big cultural presence has been explained, I'm actually a little more saddened that the only perception I've ever had of her was so dismissive and negative.

As for her music, I've never knowingly heard it. If it's as popular as people say it is, then I've almost certainly listened to it without realising. Would be interesting to listen to her albums and see what I have/haven't heard.
There you go Kroma, that'll give you a taste.

If you want an idea of her talent, have a listen to three songs - 'Back To Black', 'You Know I'm No Good' and 'Tears Dry On Their Own' - the last of which (IMO) is one of the ten best British soul songs ever.
She had what it takes, super voice and style. Such a pity she couldn't handle life.
Good voice although balck american soul artists were doing this 50 years ago.

Nothing new or original about her whatsover
And your point is?
What are you Andy Hughes? a stalker/

Why dont you go and hump somebody else's leg?
Not original? She wrote her own material.
