Some councils ban breast feeding in public buildings such as reception areas and libraries.

Do you agree with banning or is it natural?

dont have to stop and stare do you?

Think im in a minority as whilst most of you agree that breastfeeding in public is acceptable, you all seem to think that these mothers need to be somewhere "discreet" thus still implying that it's still slightly shameful, and it's this as well, that I disagree with.

If your baby needs feeding, then feed him or her. Anyone else who has a problem with this or prefers you to be elsewhere, even discreetly, can quite frankly (IMO) bugger off.
As I've just posted in another thread, today's society is all about "Me" - what I want I get and blow the rest. This is a matter of thinking not only of the child but also other people, the people who are out and about in a public place. You don't HAVE to feed a child in a public place it's not obligatory, just sort yourself out so that it's done away from hoardes of people that's all.
B00 i think that it should be the actual feeding thats discrete, not the place that its done. By all means feed your child at table next to me in restaurant, i dont care, i dont mind my friend feeding her babies at my house or at my dining table. All i mind is when the mothers, blatently let everyone within a mile radius know what they are doing, and that they dont care about who minds, and flash their boobs for all to see. It doesnt have to be like that.
we'll have to disagree then daisya, sorry, lol.

I'm of the opinion that if you're hungry when out then you'd get something to eat, so why not your baby? I wouldn't dream if saying to my infant (even if they could understand!) "no sorry, i fed you before we left home, i don't care if your hungry again, im not feeding you, we might offend someone".
I have followed this post with interest but have no real opinion either way so shall refrain from commenting on the issue raised. What has concerned me, however is the number of people unable to differentiate between "discreet" and "discrete". Theses tow words have totally different meanings.
Having said that, I am perfectly amenable to being rebuked for not knowing the difference between "tow" and "two". Perhaps I'm a little bit to wet behind the ears for this site.
This gets worse; too, not to. Time I gave up typing.
Was the "to wet etc" a deliberate mistake too?
You are quite correct, point taken.

But so does to and tow ;-)
Breast feeding is NATURAL ? so is sexual intercourse, but that wouldn't be allowed in public.

Feeding baby by demand is NONSENSE , baby waiting for a feed untill it gets home is perfectly acceptable.

Public breast feeding is just exhibitionism..."Look everybody i have had a baby and i am feeding it"

Ban the breast feeding of babies.

Oddly enough one very rarely see them bottle fed in public.
I wouldn't get my eartha kits out in public, I would have to find somewhere a little discreet to feed baby. My son was such a hungry baby, that I was advised to go onto the bottle (the baby, not me !) if I had continued to breast fed him, I would never have seen the light of day until he was 4, so I was spared this decision.

I have seen women on buses, lobbing their boobs out to breast feed a baby, and when seeing men leering at them, makes me feel uncomfortable, for them.
I was just pointing out my typos. I wouldn't make them if I had a pen in my hand. Damned computers!
"Feeding baby by demand is NONSENSE , baby waiting for a feed untill it gets home is perfectly acceptable."

Obviously not been too close to a hungry baby screaming for food have you?
Well said Squad, totally agree. Common sense is out there somewhere lol.
We've had a few women demand to be able to feed in the library and make a big fuss about it, we've also had a few women who are very discreet and you'd never know they were doing it. My main complaint is that eating and drinking is banned in the library for everyone else....
BOO.....no......I know nothing about babies.
BOO....that is just my point....women ASSUME that they are the only people that know about babies................!!

Most Paediatricians and Obstetricians are male..........most fathers have fed and changed babies.
Whatever happened to the big signs I used to see in libraries saying, "SILENCE". Nowadays some of them are more like zoos.
Plataus...I think animals are quieter lol.
*What has concerned me, however is the number of people unable to differentiate between "discreet" and "discrete"*

I guess you mean me by that? oooh very sorry, I have a problem with words...its medical...not a lot i can do about it!
