For every (one) person they now test, they are counting it as two, one swob up the nose, and one too the back of the mouth =two tests, this is so they can say they have reached the 200.000 tests per day, what the hell is this government playing at? Should they continue to lie to the public in this way you will see breakdown in law and order sooner or later. So the US rioting started off with a murder, but the real issue is their government handling of the virus and the loss of thousands of jobs and a spineless Trump who's not got a clue, very much like Boris. The virus is winning with global breakdown of law and order. 81% of the public now say Cummings broke the rules so if Boris tries another lockdown it won't work, and that is when the problems will start in the UK.

> The double counting issue for nose and throat tests is not true

That's the first time that's been said in this thread. Since that's the subject of the OP, and since gness provided a link to the this story backing up the OP ...

https://metro.co.uk/2020/05/22/thousands-coronavirus-tests-are-double-counted-officials-admit-12742017/

... perhaps you could let us know where the "not true" comes from and then we could stop discussing a non-story.
Easy. It's only a few of the cases that are double counted.
The article says "The double-counting inflates the daily reported numbers by over 20%"
By over 20%. Not by 100%
The start of the article says "Tens of thousands of coronavirus tests have been counted twice in the government’s official tally, public health officials have admitted. " But that's only a tiny proportion of the actual tests done

Thanks for the staff numbers link. Yes I've seen figures ranging from 800000 to 1,1 million to 1,5 million. Maybe some are FTEs when the higher headcount is better. Maybe the BBC report one only covers doctors and nurses and not managers, catering staff, but I agree their figure seems far too low
So, ff, if I have a nasal swab and a throat swab in a single session, will that be counted as one test or two?
Yes.
So it is true, Ff and not untrue as you stated? What an odd thing for you to post.
No gness.
Though not as odd as your answer to Ellipsis! :-)
So, ff, if I have a nasal swab and a throat swab in a single session, will that be counted as

a) one test
b) two tests
Ellipses, if the test result in the same information I would say one test, otherwise two.
Sometimes one sometimes two.
Overall "The double-counting inflates the daily reported numbers by over 20%"
Of course it's irrelevant unless someone can determine how many people we NEED to test. There is clearly capacity at the centres and many people are not going for tests
ok so can anyone tell me the actual porky we are talking about?

TTT, I answered you at 11:53 and pretty much the rest of the thread since then has been about the lie/deception/misunderstanding.

To save you going back to page two, my answer was:

> so where is the lie?

More of a deception than a lie. If you went for "a test" and when you got there discovered that your "test" involved a swab up the nose and one at the back of the mouth, when you got home you'd probably tell people you had "a test" and you're waiting on the result of your "test".

But according to government stats you would have had two tests. Even though it was one session, and one result.
so where is the "deception"? on every update they give the numbers, it says that the same person could be tested twice. It has said that from the start.
-- answer removed --
Do pay attention, TTT - it’s not an argument about people being counted twice - that’s obviously going to count twice in the stats.

The problem is that if TWO swabs are taken during ONE test then that also counts as two tests in the stats - which is a bit of a fiddle
people being ‘tested twice’ not ‘counted twice’

sorry for typo
