Why is anyone taking a blind bit of notice about what Salmond thinks? He is not in charge any more - he walked away when he plans for independence did not succeed.

You might as well bother about what Neil Kinnock says about doing deals for Labour.

yes Andy but after the election Salmond will be SNP leader in westminster and will have a lot of seats to play with.
...providing he wins his seat. Nothing is written in stone.
As the election approaches it appears to me TTT, that your often used "Sweaties" word, would be more appropriately applied to the state of many South of the border.
SirOracle, you're right. The very thought that this man should wield any influence whatsoever over this nation scares the hell out of me.
Mr Salmond does seem very sure of his ground - demanding that HS2 starts in Scotland, and talking about huge investments north of the border.

Does he know something we don't?

Or is he just being a windbag?
//Or is he just being a windbag? //

yes. HS2 won't be built in any form, never mind into scotland, during the lifetime of anybody living now.
Naomi I think that the SNP will be able to influence some things after the election, but if I were you I wouldn't worry too much about it.

After all it was the three main political parties who were united in wanting Scotland to remain in the UK and were constant in their visits up here telling us how much better off we would all be together.

Hoist by ones own petard comes to my mind. :-)
To answer your question directly TTTT....they may have to ! If the SNP are going to sweep all before them at Westminster, than they will be the 3rd largest Party, and will be able to call the tune, just like Cleggie did 5 years ago.

We have to face reality here. We are no longer a cosy 2-Party system, and probably haven't been for a while, but we didn't notice. I still expect Labour to win more seats than the Tories in a few weeks time, and he will be asked by Betty if he can form a Government. If he can with a loose arrangement with Mr Salmond, that that is what he will do....what other choice does he have ?
maybe if tory and labour politicians were of a decent calibre no one would be bothered about the terrifying mr. salmond.
Mikey At least Labour will have this option of SNP support in one way or another. This is not an option for the Tories as the SNP will not touch them with a bargepole.
SirO...I think you are right. Electoral Calculus was updated in the weekend, and although it still gives Labour a 34% probability of winning outright, it also gives a Lab/Nat probability of 16%. As Labour can normally rely of the support of the 3
Plaid Cymru MP's, its still looks like a Labour administration to me.

As I have been predicting on here for nearly two years, it looks as if dave has left it too late to win.
With you all the way Mikey.
I could be wrong SirO...it could still be Nigel in Number Ten...if he still has a Party left by May 7th !
LOL...LOL...LOL
If, as the polls predict, Labour are heading for meltdown in Scotland, I just cannot see them being the largest party at Westminster.
Jackdaw...see here ::::

Don't forget, the Tories have very little support base north of the Border, and haven't done since 1997.

As I said, Betty will ask the holder of the most number of seats to form a Government. If he can't, she will ask the next one down the list. Its her job !
Actually it's HM the Queen, not Betty, at least that is what she is called in England.
Jackdaw...don't be so po-faced ! Betty is a term of endearment.
Not to me it isn't. I can't speak for those disrespectful people who hail from the celtic fringes of this sceptered isle.
