Well after the latest HS2 news, Tilly all the money wasted and to be wasted on that could be better spent on flood defence...x

On a slightly lighter note:-

'A wee bit choppy.'

maybe teabag is being simplistic but she has a point
it is a bit like being stuck in a traffic jam for three and a half hours on your way to see your relative in hospital . It is very distressing and you might lose precious moments with them .
how ever compare your suffering with those who 5 miles up the motor way have been involved in a fatal crash they will never be going home .
Just a bit Tilly, wonder how many in that queue were having second thoughts?
I feel seasick just watching that
Comparisons do no good in such situations Johnny, TC is well known to be provocative purely for the sake of it.
maybe comparisons do no good for us
but if I was one of the victims of this storm I would still try and find a ( it could of been worse and thank my blessings for what I have got )
What nonsense, I very much doubt someone whose house is flooded is thinking ‘oh well, at least there won’t be a hose pipe ban this year’.
I think we all do that, scrabble for some comfort within any situation but as the bad stuff happens your first thoughts are immediate and not long term.

I'm sure they're all glad to be alive but they have a long, hard climb ahead of them before they can feel content and safe again.
I really feel for them, I cannot imagine how heartbreaking it must be.
yes mamy
I agree and used to get really fed up and angry stuck on motorway jams
until one time when I came to the crash scene . since then I have not got so worked up
Absolutely dreadful. Not only are people suffering with their homes and possessions, wildlife is also being affected.
Sandbags would have been no use in conditions like this. What nonsense. I feel so sorry for those so badly affected. It's devasting.

We have come off so lightly in our area, and now are seeing blue skies, thank goodness.
Our area suffered from flooding - so much so that we've had a flood defence scheme constructed.

Friends were flooded twice - once by the flood water, the other by the water table rising.
Its water, property , personal belongings. If you live by a river expect a flood. For the majority if not all, their families are safe, no one is dead that is the main thing. Those idiots driving through 3ft of water deserve all they get. We are 'flooded in' though sensibly live on the side of a hill but can't get out as one bridge is closed for repairs the other was closed until at least lunchtime due to the water being about 6 inches from the top. I've got wild ducks swimming on part of my front field. Every thing in the UK has to be a catastrophe. I'm with teacake on this one.
No one is dead! Really? The ambulance stuck in flooding trying to get to an emergency is driven by idiots?
Not that your posts have ever surprised me over the years, APG.
Gness I have no idea who you are or what you are referring to . Me I'm referring to the photo of the idiots driving down the high street water up to their bonnets - first picture in the link. You may now wind your neck in as far as you feel appropriate. The flooding has affected me personally and our village - has it affected you?
I can understand the devastating affect it must have having ducks swimming on your field, however will you manage?
Think you may have misunderstood there Sherrard. I'm not devastated in any shape or form. Half our front field is 3 ft under water, including the lambing sheds which will be needed next week but hey ho - no ones died!
