Nonsense according to Wikipedia, although the website is very unreliable at times, but I would highly doubt it.
He probably is referencing Jerry Lee Lewis, who was popular about the same era. Jerry Lee courted and married his 13-year-old cousin. She was his first wife. He toured England shortly after the marriage and the British press pilloried Lewis. He was never convicted of a crime, since they were married, but the event followed him for many years. They were later divorced and he had a string of many wives afterwards...
im a big fan of his and i doubt it very much

THANK YOU, now i can finially convince my dad he is not, but trying to convince my dad anything he doesnt agree with is a god damn mission!
maybe he was thinking of gary glitter.
chuck berry also had a dodgy past when it came to young ladies!! Orbison had a tough life full of bad luck, wife killed on motorbike and kids killed in a fire, bloody legend he is!
What a relief to hear these answers! Roy is one of my all-time greats, a real legend, as well as Jerry Lee. As regards Jerry Lee marrying a 13 year old you have to realise that he came from the backwoods where this was regarded as normal. I have seen an interview with the lady and she does not seem to have been harmed by it. There arent many greats left now so be ready for Jerry Lee's orbituaries soon.
ps He was also very young himself - hardly out of his teens I think.
Musicians often get pilloried for actions which, in context, are nothing like as lurid as they appear.

Jerry Lee is the most famous, but as johnny37 points out, the practise of underage inter-family marriages was common and acceptable in Jerry Lee's area of upbringing, and he was genuinely surprised by the furore cause when he toured the UK.

Similarly, Chuck Berry was imprisoned for an offence under the Mann Act - transporting a minor across a state line for illegal or imoral purposes. The background is, Berry hired a waitress from out of state to work in one of his clubs. She promptly set up shop as a porostitute in the building next door, and investigations proved that she was under eighteen, and had lied to Berry about her age. Non the less he was prosecuted, and served time.

Berry does have some seriously dubious personal activities in his past, but on this occasion, he was innocent.
