No doubt there will be many more. They are the REAL heroes, and we should honour their sacrifice.

We shall remember them.

I agree. They've been in the front line, often with little protection and at great risk to their lives. I hope their memory is formally honoured in some way.
I could not agree more!

Many people are describing the current pandemic as a war. Therefore, by such definition, the heroes you refer to can more than rightly be considered as casualties of war, just as much as the heroes we lost in WW1, WW2, the Falklands etc.

Lest we forget...
Absolutely! So very sad..
I put up a similar but slightly shorter list a few days ago.

Heartfelt thanks to all ♥
It is very humbling.
As a tribute, politicians should tell the truth.
There is no shame in admitting mistakes, only in dishonesty trying to cover them up.

Sorry Mamya, I missed it.
I spoke to my son, the carer, this evening.
He is so distressed.
They have lost four clients in the past week to CV.
His PPE is paltry, AND they have reduced staff.
For his own safety he should walk away, but he won't.
He is close to his clients and refuses to let them down.
Today he should have been looking after somebody on a one to one basis, but the cuts mean he is looking after two, as well as dealing with any emergency situation.
I think he is suffering PTSD and demanded he talk to family and speak to us daily.
He is 29 and lives alone.
I know some of you are experienced dealing with mental health issues so any advice on how I can best support my son most welcome.
No reason for sorry x

The sad truth is that unless the government get appropriate PPE to the NHS and to care workers, the list is going to keep on growing.
Exactly Mozz, it will grow.

Theland, you have done right - be there to listen and support him, that's as much as you can do.

Tell him thank you from me x
Mamya, I really will.
True heroes all.
so incredibly sad, at times like these it's easy to fall into despair but for the sacrifices made..
Yes, we should remember them.

BUT, we should also remember those outside the NHS who have also carried on and lost their lives like the 14 transport workers in London(so far) who, without them many NHS workers could not get to work.

It does annoy me a little that all the attention goes to thse who 'save lives'. Yes honour them but honour all those others risking their lives to enable them to work.
For once I agree with youngmaf there are many that are not saving life’s but who are classed as key workers, those that work at ports and airports that ensure cargo is unloaded to keep the country running, I could go on but am expecting to be shot down any moment.
When this is all over, a monument must be built in the heart of London and the names of all those who made the ultimate sacrifice while doing their everyday job engraved upon it.
Yes we should have a lasting memorial to them all.The best way would be to pay their colleagues who will carry the torch in future what they are truly worth.I hope when he is well enough to return to work Boris makes that ,as well as sufficient PPE for all,his first task.If he doesn’t people like three homes Jenrick and don’t over use the PPE Hancock will soon turn this in to a one term government.
